As much as I would love to see them at the Hague, I don't want time spent for 1 minute that takes away from Health Care,

If I thought we could make it even halw way stick -- I'd be all ears.

The Democratic Party has a history of closing ranks with the Republicans to protect their $MONEY$ system.
Obama has already telegraphed his "bi-partisan" intentions.

It is time to shoulder the load ourselves.
We CAN Privatize the effort.

I will donate $500 to ANY organization that will place a Bounty on Bush/Cheney to be paid to anyone who provides evidence or testimony that leads to their arrest, indictment, or the issuing of an International Warrant for their Arrest.

A small, transparent trust located in a neutral country like Switzerland could administer the fund. If the BOUNTY is promoted internationally, it would quickly grow to Mega-Millions.

The fund would also be tasked with running full page Wanted For War Crimes ads in major Global newspapers every 3 months until the Bounty is awarded or depleted.

I believe that such a fund would be wildly popular worldwide, and provide the administrators an opportunity to make a little money.
I have neither the resources or skills to institute such a fund, but like I said above, I am willing to donate $500. I also believe that there are at least a million more worldwide (extreme minimum) who would also be willing to donate....that adds up to some serious money.

Wanted
for
WAR CRIMES

A $500 Million Dollar Reward will be paid to any individual, organization, or country that provides concrete information leading to the arrest, or the issuance of an Internal Arrest Warrant for War Crimes committed by George Bush, Dick Cheney, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, or Donald Rumsfeld.

It is clear that the Opposition Party (Democratic Party) and the US Justice Department will do NOTHING to hold the criminals accountable.
A private organization representing Citizens of the World would have better results.

Even if Bush/Cheney are never arrested, a Mega-Million Dollar International Bounty would certainly keep them looking over their shoulders, curtail retirement travel plans, AND serve as a warning to future "Unitary Executives".

It would also put a nice ribbon around the Bush Legacy.

could a payment plan be set up. This is surely a case where "Money Talks" and, as you said, it would at least "...serve as a warning to future 'Unitary Executives.'"

So many of us contributed what we could, when we were able, to help elect President Obama and interested non-U.S. citizens weren't allowed to contribute. This fund you suggest could reach a worldwide audience who are appalled by the war crimes and, with our fellow citizens of the world, a dollar, a euro, a franc at a time, we could speak in a language these criminals understand.

23. It is our responsibility as citizens --
We the People are equal under the law.
That includes politicians and the rich.

Bush and his cronies:

• stole Florida and were handed the election of 2000, 5-4.
• Tax Cuts for UltraRich
• Escalated Govt. Spending on Cronies' behalf
• Criminal Justice Department
• Suicidal Environmental Policy
• Illegal spying on Americans
• ENRON Energy Policy
• 9-11 Criminal Negligence, at best; Treason, most likely
• modeled an economy on a Ponzi scheme at best, a Mafia bust-out more likely
• lied America into an illegal and immoral war.
• Outted a CIA agent and her network, compromising national security
• Paperless Selection 2004
• Ignored Cries for Help from New Orleans
• Imprisoned a governor on false charges for being a successful Democrat.

That all is Un-American.
They each demand investigation, prosecution, and justice.

43. Those who suggest this must be shelved so the economy can be dealt with are simply wrong

Besides the fact that the President and Congress are expected to be able to multitask, a fundamental part of their function
is to create law. By choosing to ignore the law when it becomes politically convenient, they send a strong message to the
people they represent and to future administrations: criminal culpability is a one-way street
(formerly known as "when the President does it, it's not illegal").

We're a nation of cowards and criminals unless and until we actually stand up for the values and principles to which we give lip service. Without "walking the walk" we're without honor and without integrity, undeserving of self-governance and our children and grandchildren should piss on our graves and spit whenever mentioning our names.

They have a moral and legal DUTY, under the UN Convention Against Torture, to pursue this case.

Pelosi and others may already have gone far enough to be charged. Turning a blind eye should not be allowed. It's illegal.

CONVENTION AGAINST TORTURE
and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment

Article 12
Each State Party shall ensure that its competent authorities proceed to a prompt and impartial investigation, wherever there is reasonable ground to believe that an act of torture has been committee in any territory under its jurisdiction.

Article 13
Each State Party shall ensure that any individual who alleges he has been subjected to torture in any territory under its jurisdiction has the right to complain to and to have his case promptly and impartially examined its competent authorities. Steps shall be taken to ensure that the complainant and witnesses are protected against all ill-treatment or intimidation as a consequence of his complaint or any evidence given.

Article 14
Each State Party shall ensure in its legal system that the victim of an act of torture obtains redress and has an enforceable right to fair and adequate compensation including the means for as full rehabilitation as possible. In the event of the death of the victim as a result of an act of torture, his dependents shall be entitled to compensation.
Nothing in this article shall affect any right of the victim or other person to compensation which may exist under national law.

Article 15
Each State Party shall ensure that any statement which is established to have been made as a result of torture shall not be invoked as evidence in any proceedings, except against a person accused of torture as evidence that the statement was made.

http://www.hrweb.org/legal/cat.html

Also, the 9/11 commissioners used statements obtained through torture in their final report. They should also be charged.

69. I Agree but History Shows That it Never Happens...
I would love to see Bush & Cheney be indicted for war
crimes among the countless other cronyism and unethical
strategic agendas that were used throughout their
administration of fear. However, I think it would be a long
and drawn out process when what we need to be focusing on is
CHANGE as opposed to the past.

If you look at the past, and I am not sure about the specific
presidents and/or specific people that were let off the hook
per se. Just before their terms were up, Presidents pardoned
criminals that were in jail and did not indict previous
presidents and politicians for unethical acts and/or crimes
even though they had the chance to do so. I feel that it has
somewhat became an unspoken rule.

Barack Obama can certainly go against the norm and press for
his Attorney General to press charges, but with the amount
that he is already going to be stirring up the pot with his
current agenda, is this a wise idea?

All I am saying is lets focus on the future, not the past -
First and Foremost. Even though he is only currently the
President Elect, I finally feel like we have a true leader
running this country right now as I see him make speeches and
answer questions to reporters on the news. Also him
addressing congress. The last 2 years felt as though we had
no president, just a group of advisors and cronies ruining our
nation and the war.

Obama would make a lot of enemies if he pressed charges on the
current administration, enemies that could make his tenure
miserable and potentially dangerous. There are lot of wackos
out there that still think Bush was the greatest president
ever, that Barack Obama is a practicing muslim, and that he
wants to replace all Bibles with Korans and take every
person's gun away. They are saying to themselves "ain't
no black man gonna put his stickin' hand on the Koran and take
the oath of president, not if I can help it!." And who
knows what these type of people are capable of doing if
determined enough. Thank Rush Limbaugh and Hannity for
instilling these ideas. I can't stand those two idiots.

83. Accountability for Bush, Cheney and Gang
Those who say that bringing the crooks who stole control of our country and continue to drain the treasury are copping out. John Conyers and Dennis Kucinich have already done most of the work in detailing the crimes committed by these bums. And there's a long line of whistleblowers who are waiting to testify against them.

If you wish to be a nation of laws, we must pursue justice.

70. Kick - It's not about being vindictive or partisan.
Analogy time! Examining the flaming wreckage that captain Bush FO Dick Cheney and first class stewardess Henry Paulson gave us won't make the plane fly again, but we study what happened so we can identify what went wrong and prevent it from happening again.

If the facts lead to criminal prosecution and conviction it may just be a necessary part of the recovery process.

Unfortunately, there was an article in the current Newsweek that said the incoming Justice Dept may not choose to investigate the outgoing one. Something about setting a bad precedent. I say fuck that. Investigate and where there was wrongdoing, prosecute. And we all know there was plenty. So here's hoping Eric Holder does the right thing.

78. Yawn. Another "prosecute Bush" thread
without anyone identifying the criminal statute that Bush violated. Of course, if he is guilty of treason, no criminal statute is needed, but good luck with that one.

84. I will never feel real peace or belief in this country unless...
...I see these CRIMINALS brought to justice. This is not a "D" vs. "R" issue. This is not about "getting revenge" for Clinton's impeachment. This is about the Constitution of the United States. You may know that document, the one Nancy Pelosi and her cowardly Demowimps allies swore an oath to uphold. Unless these CRIMINALS are brought to justice, you can better believe that these crimes will occur again and again by future Presidents, maybe even Obama.

Thanks for starting this thread.

In my view anyone who makes excuses why the war criminals in the Bush administration should not be held accountable for their actions is nothing more than an enabler of this criminal behavior.

90. I'd settle for a link to an article
that lays out that legal basis. I believe that Bush and Cheney deserve punishment for their disregard for human rights, but that's different than believing that they have committed a crime under some federal criminal statute.
