Don't ask me about non-partisan unity.....
..It is Thanksgiving. I know there are people who have more problems than I do... and I wish them God Speed and hope that they can find help.

This depression.. is a direct result of George Bush and his Republicans.

I am so bitter... and working so hard to get by.. please DU Members... don't tell me I have to let George Bush get away with his crimes because it will help the nation.

1. People who have reached a comfort level seem more "comfortable"
with compromise, appeasement, and an endorsement of corporate culture politics.

This could explain why the the DLC and center right have a great many followers here and among other Democrats who have had the luxury of an education or some other legacy, and with it a comfortable salary or trust fund.

It is harder for those of us that struggle every day just to survive, keep a job, or who have neighbors destined to be the cannon fodder for the war contractor's profit margin to be so forgiving. To be so willing to compromise the safety nets, freedoms and unions that we know we will need to depend on now more than ever.

The lack of empathy for the "purism" of those with nothing left to lose is understandable.

I get you, because I have spent most of my life in the lower classes with a short beginning in the middle class before the loss of a steel plant where my father once worked.
Later, I watched the real human damage done to my very own neighbors by the Clinton compromises - so I am not looking forward to what is shaping up to be "The Compromise" 2.0 or the easy forgiveness of the hardships suffered by neighbors that were caused by the Bush regime.

As for the comfortable, It is best to forgive them for they know not what they do. To them it is a game of semantics similar to a sporting event, and they are on the winning team. We are just an idea to them.

Those we know, the suffering or destined to suffer, are almost fictitious characters in a drama. The war death, something to yell at like the loss of a field goal, as unimportant to them as carpet bombing was to an ambitious Senator that will soon be our Secretary of State. Our civil liberties, negotiable articles to buy a few yards to win a touchdown in this game. Never realizing that the game will be won in the end by the corporations that seek this compromise, for you see my friend they think it is a game between red and blue, and never look beyond the stadium to see the reality of what has been lost, and what is still at stake beyond the game of red and blue.

They will never know it is more than a game until they no longer know how to feed their own families, or until they themselves are imprisoned after the loss of some seemingly unimportant liberty.

Do not rise to the bait offered on this site by the appeasers, rise to the occasion instead in the real world with the realization that dissent is never wrong if you know the true value of what you are fighting for.

Always forgive them that know not what they do, for someday we will need them as allies and you will never be able to show them what is real unless you understand and forgive them.

They will never understand you until they are you, But I am here to tell you, it is possible for you to understand them.

That is all....

(PS I thought I was already out of here, I am a little mad at you for drawing me back into this silly game ;-) )
