Poll question: What Is Your Holiday Sales Prediction?
This will certainly be in the news within the next week; what will holiday sales look like? Gloom and doom or the season savior?

Compared to last year's sales this year's will be ...

1. i'm afraid the India Terror attacks may result in it being even less
than it would have been.

i was actually thinking it wouldn't be too bad and Obama's presentation of his economic team did make people feel better.

but the recent news about the possible plan to attack NY Subway and the attacks in India might have frightened a lot of people from going out and shopping which they originally planned to do.

3. Somehow I doubt it
We are far to self-centered to spend much time worring about anything that happened in India. Remember, we are a nation in which a huge number of people couldn't even find India on a globe. My guess is a week from now this will be forgotten by those few people in this country who paid any attention to it in the first place.

Try this sunday morning, if you see your neighbor ask him or her if they recall anything significant happening in India in the last week?

6. i meant because they are scared we might be attacked here
not because they care or are worried about what is going on elsewhere. combine this with the news earlier of the possible plan to attack NY Subway.

especially because this happened in a major international city and westerners were targeted. also the news is covering this more than other times.

2. I assume by Holiday Sales, you mean Black Friday and not
the entire X-mas season.

I see you are also a warrior in the war on Christmas because you wrote Holiday sales instead of Christmas sales. My contribution is using X-mas.}(

8. Oh, I dunno. Maybe it means friday, maybe the first week, maybe the whole season

I really didn't have any particular time period in mind. I think they report after the first weekend or maybe its the first week. Then of course we get to hear a lot about it from about the 2nd week of December on out. I guess I mean the who shooting match, Thanksgiving (1st holiday in the season) until maybe Christmas (2nd or 3rd holiday during the season) and if you want extend it all the way to New Year's Eve (last holiday in the season).

I like the idea of being a warrior. I really like it! :~) Most people tend to think of me more as a large-nosed egg standing on toothpicks but with a long unkempt beard. Oh, and with the sort of bad complexion only an old man who spent far too much time in the sun too.

4. in my family
my son and i are going to LA to be with his brothers niece and nephews, and that's our christmas. there won't be much left for presents, but at least we'll be together for the first time in over a year. so i'm spending the money and then some that i would have otherwise, but no presents from retail stores.

5. already up 25% here.
We've saved pretty good over the year so I increased our Holiday spending 25%...Nothing big 750 last year, but hopefully it'll help save America. LOL

7. Real economy or the vapor economy?
I say it'll be down 10, but, reported up 20... or at the very least they'll be bellowing about
how it was 'better than expected'.

9. Sadly you are probably exactly right.
Except maybe it will be down even more than that.

10. Our morning paper was so fat with fliers, I thought it was a Sunday Special.
I can't recall a time when there were so many ads. The stores have got to be hurting.
