Hahaha ..... "Just go take it all back from those crooks!"
That from my eighty-something aunt. Who lives with her eighty-something husband and her older sister, my ninety-something aunt. This was our first conversation since the election.

She wants blood. Well, not so much blood as the money she thinks Bush and Paulson are stealing from us to give to rich people who don't need any more.

Then my older aunt got on the line. Voice frail. Anger clear. She thinks there needs to be jail time involved. What's the matter with helping union people? Everything goes to the stock brokers. Stock brokers don't work. Union people work.

Hahaha.

I love 'em.

1. It's a pity and a shame that their justifiable fury isn't more commonly held.

The wise elders among us remember they remember when what we call a burger they'd call Dinner for Four.. The cardboard in the bottom of the shoes to get a few more miles out of them. . th root cellar getting low before the spring produce was ready to eat...

My fondest greetings to your Aunts & Uncle..

3. Yeah .... they do remember
I grew up with parents who remembered.

They remember.

They remember working 'at the shop' (large factories in the smokestack northeast).

They remember the whole family working hard for little just to keep everyone fed.

They remember how proud they were to give us kids more than they had.

They remember.

And I am thankful for them.

5. John Paulson makes $10 million a day
His hedge fund bet against mortgage backed securities.
In 2007 he made $10 million a day, every day,for a total of $3.7 billion.
That's his personal compensation!
In 2008 he is expected to make much more.
His tax rate is 15% as capital gains.

Time for a mass demonstration on Wall Street.
