I’m Thankful For The End Of The Bush Era. |
|
Not just thankful for the usual things, like being able to watch the president on the television without cringing and running for the remote. Or for not having to wonder anymore what damage is going to be done to the environment, the constitution, the economy, America’s standing in the world or who we’re going to bomb next. And I know that we haven’t come close to defusing all the time bombs Bush has set. The economy will take years to recover; and no one knows, or wants to really contemplate what the real cost to the country will be for the Iraq War. But blowback is inevitable. One of the many things that millions of people warned of before the war started. All the rest have already come true. I will continue to do my part and will remain active in the community and in politics; and I’m still holding out hope that the people in the Bush administration will be held accountable for their crimes.
But having said that, I now get my life back. For years I didn’t read anything fictional, just to escape. It was all books on Bush, his crimes, or the history that led up to his administration. Constantly doubting just how decent the people in the country were. Well, now they’ve proven themselves better and smarter than they were just four years ago. Not that I’ll tune out, ever, but there is a weight that’s been lifted. And for that, I’m happy.

But I too an grateful and pleased that intelligence and grace won out over fear mongering corporatism.

19. You're right. If this had been a movie made 10 years ago, no one would have believed it plausible. |

10. That's what the code word "CHANGE" is all about. |
|
I don't know why A-hole Shrub has been given exemption from before Day 1: During Campaign 2000, it was, "Don't be too hard on him" and, NO examination of his nothingness record in Texas, "Don't mess with Texas" (the way ATWATER and Shrub MESSED with DUKAKIS's Massachusetts). Then it was, "No fingerpointing (at Shrub), but this and this and this is CLINTON's fault" and "No looking back, look to the future". Then in the following elections it was, "He's not on the ballot in '02 and '06, no talking about HIM."
He ran on "accountability" and "character" and never HAD no damned accountability and LIED his fucking "character" off. I will hate him to MY dying day.

except maybe Islamic extremists, who are now coming to grips with the fact that the inept reactionaries that they so easily manipulated will no longer be running the show.
