It never ceases to amaze me... the amount of food some folks |
|
can put away...
I mean we had a good dinner with family... but boy... I ate until I was satisfied, actually had a little too much, should have stopped at fruit and not the extra slice of apple pie...
But boy I am amazed....
It reminds me why we do have an obesity problem
Oh and that sleepiness after turkey day, ain't that tryptophan, but the second, third and fourth helping and three slices of pie...
Happy turkey day...

3. isn't this true of most cultures including outside America ? |
|
celebrations and family get togethers always involves a lot of food. i don't think it's an american thing.
the problem with america is more things like fast food, cars, etc.
thanksgiving is probably different in that it mostly involves home cooked meals and family getting together to eat rather than people individually getting fast food take out or some cheap snacks high in calories.

Is the same harvest celebration that has been going on since the dawn of agriculture. There is always a huge feast.

8. Nah! It's The Tryptophan For Me |
|
I got sleepy walking the dog before i even had dessert!
I went and laid on the couch in the basement and dozed off for 20 minutes. By the time i woke up, my FiL and BiL had gone home. So, i didn't bother with pie at that point.
And i don't even do dressing! Just turkey, sweet potato, cranberry sauce and a roll. (Well, i had seconds of the first 3.)
But, it was all really good! The Professor

9. It was the amount of food, not the tryptophan |
|
Plenty of studies on it
If it was tryptophan we'd fall asleep often... yes we eat turkey at least once every two weeks
:-)
We like it

11. I Didn't Eat That Much |
|
Honest, i didn't eat any more than at any other meal! I didn't eat any sweets!
Now, i admit that my wife and i are usually up no later than 4:30 in the morning, and by 2pm, that would explain a little fatigue, but i really don't think it was because of how much i ate.
Geez, when we make ribs or crablegs, i eat WAY more than i ate today. And i don't get sleepy from that. Just stuffed to the point of discomfort. (No, i ain't proud of that, just admittin' it!)
Have a nice rest of your T-Day!
