Mumbai attacks: Gunmen 'could be British-born'
Speculation into who organised the massacres that have left 130 dead and hundreds wounded, has centred on the involvement of militant groups from outside India.

The attacks targeted Western tourists in two luxury hotels, a cafe and train station across India's financial capital. Scenes of panic and violence as Indian troops attempted to regain control of the city have shocked the world.

Indian news channel NDTV reported that "British citizens of Pakistani origin" were among the attackers.

However, the Foreign Office has not been able to confirm the report.

An FCO spokeswoman said: "We have seen the media reports but we are not aware of anything giving any credence to those reports at the moment."

Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee has publicly blamed elements in Pakistan for the series of co-ordinated attacks.

"According to preliminary information, some elements in Pakistan are responsible," he said.

It was the first time the Indian government had specifically named Pakistan as having a role in the attacks. Officials had previously talked of the militant gunmen coming from "outside the country".

Indian police have almost emptied the Taj Mahal Hotel and the Trident Oberoi Hotel of militant gunmen, who took hundreds of tourists, including Britons, hostage during the raids.

1. Wouldn't really surprise where that to be found true.
They often seem to have high loyalty to their the land of their ancestors.
