Rupert Murdoch despises Bill O'Reilly

Wolff: Murdoch ‘absolutely despises’ O’Reilly

In Michael Wolff’s forthcoming biography of Rupert Murdoch, “The Man Who Owns The News,” the author writes that the media mogul has seemed to turn away lately from his cable news network, and isn’t fond its top-rated personality, Bill O’Reilly.

“It is not just Murdoch (and everybody else at News Corp.’s highest levels) who absolutely despises Bill O’Reilly, the bullying, mean-spirited, and hugely successful evening commentator,” Wolff wrote, “but Roger Ailes himself who loathes him. Success, however, has cemented everyone to each other."

“The embarrassment can no longer be missed,” Wolff wrote, in another section of the book. “He mumbles even more than usual when called on to justify it. He barely pretends to hide the way he feels about Bill O’Reilly. And while it is not that he would give Fox up—because the money is the money; success trumps all—in the larger sense of who he is, he seems to want to hedge his bets.”

2. Money talks.
Nobody walks. Even the embarassingly pea-brained, banal, boorish, and demagogic bought-and-sold republicon homelander propaganda dupe, Billy 'Loofah-sex Military Deferment Chickenhawk' O'Reilly.

4. And I'm totally unimpressed with Murdoch's whining about it.
"We hate him, but he's hugely successful so we have to keep him!!!" Yeah, right. And what about the rest of your shit network, Rupert?

O'Rielly makes him tons of money, it would be a bad business move to fire him.

14. Because the whp;e story is bullshit
O'Reilly is doing exactly what Ailes and Murdoch want. They are only distancing themselves because they sense a public backlash.

If Olbermann and Maddow continue to grow an audience, then these guys will have to rethink the idea of such a blindly partisan network. They are right on the hairy edge of becoming marginalized.

That invites an interesting question. If they couldn't maintain a profitable business by catering to the wingnuts, would they be interested in operating a more legitimate news channel?

7. Murdoch doesn't dislike him because of ethics, he just doesn't like him personally. (nt)

6. This is not much of a surprise - he's had topless women in his papers for decades
although he's fairly puritanical himself, it's said. But he knows it sells copies. Profit is what he cares about, above all.

Rush, Hannity, O'Really, Savage, Boortz, the list goes on of these completely immoral and hateful people, but they are kept on and even encouraged because of how much money they bring in..

Frankenstein didn't like the Creature after he got to see what his work wrought, either.
