Sign of the times?: Batman killed by his father in new comic
London: DC comics' superhero Batman who breathed his last in the latest comic “Batman R.I.P.” gets murdered by a man claiming to be his father, who he thought was dead.

Billionaire Bruce Wayne, who by night is crime-fighting superhero Batman, is killed by Simon Hurt, the leader of the Black Glove organisation when he is stopped from escaping by the cape crusader, reports thesun.co.uk.

Hurt claims he is Dr Thomas Wayne (Bruce Wayne's father), saying he faked his own passing when Bruce was a child.

US lawmaker does double duty as comic

“This is so much better than death. People have killed characters in the past but to me, that kind of ends the story. I like to keep the story twisting and turning. So what I am doing is a fate worse than death. Things that no one would expect to happen to these guys at all. This is the end of Bruce Wayne as Batman," said writer Grant Morrison.

“Batman will live on though, with another character filling his Batsuit. Two likely contenders are Dick Grayson - the original Robin or current Boy Wonder, Tim Drake,” he added.

6. Right - Just like Superman's death
And then we got a cyborg Superman, a teenage quasi-clone Superman, an African-American genius mechanical engineer who built a suit of armor and fought crime as a dedication to Superman, and a Kryptonian artifact dedicated to preserving Kryptonian life who became sentient when it rescued Superman from his tomb and thought he really was Superman.

Then Superman came back.

10. Most likely
Batman will come back after they try to "remake the franchise" for a while.

7. I'm so glad I gave up comic books, long, long ago
I sold out my collection back in the early, early nineties before the collector's market went bust, and got enough money to put a hefty down payment on my first house. I thought plot lines were getting stupid back then, but from what I've seen, they've just gotten worse since.

Once in a while I think about climbing back into comic collecting, but then something like this comes along and really discourages me, especially at the current $3.00 price for new comics. I might still get into collecting the old ones, but only if I run across a good collection at an estate sale or such.

9. you cant rely on series of comics anymore, your best bet is finding story arcs and graphic novels.
its hard to separate the shit from the diamonds, but there is some good stuff out there

the Marvel Civil War series recently was extremely good, and from what i have rad of the New AVengers and the Mighty AVengers, they are also both extremely good.
