Lots of explosions and gun fire. Reporter is sitting on the ground and reporting live from the scene. First floor of the hotel is on fire and the fire is spreading to the second floor.

8. Terrific live coverage. It reminds me of the early days of CNN when

Ted Turner had correspondents every where in the world that would bring live coverage. I watched Anwar Sadat assassinated on live TV. Not that this is desirable but at least there were journalists every where covering events. In this case the assassination was unexpected.

I'm trying to figure out whether this originated as a smoke bomb set off by the Indian commandos or something set off by the explosives the terrorists have--if the latter, it is another dramatic diversionary tactic.

And the last terrorists were killed. Mumbai police chief said the encounter at the Taj is over. "Sniffer dogs" have also been sent in.

I hate to think of what will be found inside. :(
