Drunk driver runs over himself
ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico, November 26, 2008 (NBC) -- New Mexico State Police captured a suspected drunk driver after he fell out of his car and the car ran over him!
http://www.ksn.com/news/also/35136499.html

A dashboard camera caught on tape what several people called the state's "drunk busters" hotline to complain about.

The driver of the truck was swerving across lanes of traffic and on and off the road.

The truck finally veered off the road and drove through the desert where the driver fell out and his truck rolled back over his legs.

He was released from the hospital later the same day and arrested.

State police say they found a half-gallon bottle of vodka on the seat of the truck.

2. And?
That's a pretty common sort of story for New Mexico drunks, some of whom are into the double digits in DUI arrests.

Anyone who drives through this state should assume that a good 40% of the other drivers on the road are stinko.

Just idiots... I cannot tell you how angry I was when I got a drunkbuster letter... I was not even AROUND!!! I live in Rio Rancho way out in the boonies.. Said I was up at Wyoming and Menaul.. I dont know if a number got switched or what but I was mad as all hell. I have a immaculate driving record and pride myself on it. Then get a letter of driving 25 miles away from my house when the car was in the garage?! Anger is all that describes it people really need to get their shit together.

The Drunkbuster letter says

Dear "Name of Car Owner"

A vehicle registered to you was reported to the DrunkBuster Hotline by a member of the public who noticed erratic driving behavior.

As a matter of public safety, we encourage everyone to report dangerous or suspected drunk drivers to the Drunkbuster hotline by dialing #DWI (#394) on a cell phone. This service is provided by the New Mexico Department of Public Saftey. The call is immediately connected to a DrunkBuster operator who communicates the information to State or Local officers in the area.

We realize you may not have been driving, but as the vehicle's registered owner we ask you to look into this report to determine whether someone was driving this vehicle dangerously. I encourage you to always drive safely and to call DrunkBusters anytime you notice a driver who may be driving dangerously or who might be intoxicated.

This courtesy letter is sent on behalf of the driving public who joins us in our efforts to create a safe and secure environment on New Mexico's roadways. Erratic and drunk driving is clearly a threat to us all. Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated and certainly will improve the safety and well being of our fellow citizens.

Please contact "Name of Person and DrunkBuster" at (505) ***-**** if you have any questions regarding this letter

----- end of letter -----

What annoys me most about the letter is that you look at the statistical information listed at drunkbusters and it seems to be a enormous waste of time and money.

http://www.dps.nm.org/lawEnforcement/dwi/drunkbusters.php check stats there its appalling.
