"Someone died. It's a tragedy. YES they should stop the black Friday crap. YES they were stupid to do it."

1. I feel for the person who died--It is indeed a tragedy but people |
|
have free will to choose to go the Sales or not go to those ungodly early hours sales.
It is a bit irrational to call Walmart the Murder mart.

2. A bit irrational? How about ridiculous over the top hyperbole? |

And, I agree with you. People can choose to go or not to go. Most people who go do it for the excitement factor. They know damned well they're not going to score a flatscreen for $100.

why do you and so many others feel the need to defend Wal-Mart? They were largely responsible for that man's death. All he was doing was stocking shelves, trying to make a living. How come you can be arrested for yelling, 'Fire!' in a crowded theater, but not for inciting a crowd by whipping them up in a frenzy over cheap tv's and other shit and then not having adequate staff on hand to manage that crowd? I think 'Murder-Mart' fits nicely. For many more reasons than that man's senseless death.

It is our decision to fall for it.

5. I think the difference is that when you are yelling 'Fire' in a crowded |
|
theater, people are in fear for their lives. This was people stomping over a person to get $$$$ off an item that they didn't need.
It's actually nauseating. And, it's not just Wal Mart. It's all retailers. They all have door busters to try to make their numbers. It's a marketing strategy that has worked well.
Greed is what killed this man. Not Wal Mart.

6. you have got to be kidding! |

This guy got killed because he tried to hold back a mob. It was the mob that killed him, not Walmart! I know all the arguements against Walmart, so please don't patronize with irrelevancy. This could have happened at other stores, there is nothing inherent in Walmart that responsible for this man's death.
Some people are too frenzied by this holiday craze, and this is just one example. All in the name of celebrating a non-materialistic peacenik guru's birth!
Knee jerk blame it all on Walmart and enable the killer mob, I guess
