A bunch of folks were in line at the bank today and the WalMart tragedy in Long Island was being discussed. No one said they'd shopped at the local WalMart yesterday, but the teller said her brother had gone because his XBox had quit working and he wanted it replaced right away. He was the one hit by the box. What I got from the general conversation as that folks were avoiding shopping and that many were giving simpler gifts this season, like home made baked goods.
