There were hundreds of people waiting for them too. Everyone was so dissapointed. They were intending on picketting a production of the Laramie Project at a restaurant. However, they were supposedly stopped at the border. I don't believe they were. In fact, I don't think they even tried to come. I think they're lying. Last time they tried to get in they said the same thing "Six of us got in, the rest were stopped." It's always six.

Cowards.

1. They realized what would happen
after their reception in Oregon. But I salute anyone on the Border Patrol that identified vermin and wouldn't let them in.

10. The Westboro freaks protested the election of the
transgender mayor of Silverton OR. Here's some details:

http://www.wowowow.com/post/hateful-westboro-protesters-called-out-oregon-trans-action-148152?promo=news

The small town came together yesterday to counter protesters from the always-insane Westboro Baptist Church, who traveled from Kansas to wag a finger at Silverton’s transgendered mayor, Stu Rasmussen.

Brandishing signs that read "Your Pastor’s a Whore" and "Obama = Antichrist," the group of four Westboro "activists" were sorely outnumbered by dozens of Silverton residents, who held signs praising Rasmussen. One read "We love Stu," while another took the message to a greater height: "Hate is easy. Love takes courage." It’s not surprising to hear that Silverton’s voters came out for Rasmussen — the politician won the mayoral slot by quite the margin: 52 to 39.

The Westboro contingent began their day at Portland State University and then headed to the German and Swedish consulates. Because, you know, they like to spread the hate, as they do so often at slain soldiers’ funerals. This picture shows the clan’s leaders, Margie and Fred Phelps, at one of their 2007 protests. Aren’t those signs precious?

Sixteen-year-old Victoria Phelps led her radical church’s small group, yet couldn’t seem to quite grasp the inspiration for their travels. When a Silverton resident asked her to explain herself, Phelps offered this lackluster response: "… It’s our duty to come out here and preach to these people because they’re so proud of having a transvestite mayor. It’s disgusting. And where was it? Was it Isaiah? Deuteronomy? About it being an abomination?" The resident, who describes herself as a Christian, shot back, "I’ve read the Bible cover to cover. Bottom line: Love beats hate." And that’s the truth!

2. Your border checks going into Canada are pretty tough.
I have known elderly Americans to be refused entry because they admitted to having been arrested back in their youth for crimes like DUIs and other trouble that usually law abiding citizens get into when they are young and stupid.

3. Driving while impaired is considered a felony in this country.
For that reason, I believe we ought to have refused entry to your President, First Lady, and Vice-President on their trips here, or at least made them jump through the same hoops that other convicted felons have to if they want to enter Canada.

5. Dirving over .80 is an indictable offence, a DUI is just a summary conviction, I believe

6. Actually, I wish you would have arrested them for war crimes and sent
them to the Hague, but I guess they had diplomatic immunity. I hope once he is no longer a head of State that country's like yours do refuse him entry or if they allow him in, arrest him for violation of international laws and war crimes. I'm beginning to believe that this will be the only way that justice will be served.

7. I like how they always ask me what I do for a living when I go back
It's like "You got my passport, fucko, what do you care?"

9. Border security probably asked if any of the troupe could spell "Canada."
Edited on Sat Nov-29-08 04:24 PM by Buzz Clik
When they could not, he assumed that they were unfriendlies and sent them back to the US.

(For all you lurking Freepers, it's "C eh? N eh? D eh?")

11. They protested a soldier's funeral in Canton not too long ago
and yet, the "news reports" never mentioned why the Westboro church was anti-war ... just that they're "anti-war" ...

lumping some real freaktards in with legit concerns about an illegal war ...

13. For them it is likely that just mentioning plans and getting a reaction is enough.
They're basically phoning it in, I guess.
