I was at Edwards on the flight line on April 14th 1981 for the landing of the 1st Space Shuttle Columbia.
I remember it like yesterday. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.

6. I remember the Columbia Pilot saying....

"Big Sur never looked so good!
They were piping the radio transmissions over the loudspeakers at Edwards so everyone could hear.
Minutes later we heard the BOOM! at Edwards. Yeah baby!
