After all, Bush will sign the bill and I think that the Southern senators who, apparently, are still fighting the Civil War, will be in the minority.

3. I've been out all day. Heard a snippet about Bush tapping TARP for auto co. loans?
(aside) I think the (R) Sen's are fighting a labor war, not the Civil War, fwiw.

5. Yes, so it seems
Ironic how the pundits on TV were agog that the Republicans are going against their President. Of course they do. As far as they are concerned, they lost the White House and Congress because of him.

6. The (R) senators have painted themselves into a piss poor political corner, it seems.
Voting against loans to the Big 3 and forcing the hand of their *titular* leader to pull funds from TARP to make it happen.

4. Jan 3 is the earliest. This year, Jan 6 I think.
The 20th Amendment to the Constitution, proclaimed as ratified February 6, 1933, established noon on the 3rd day of January as the meeting date, unless the Congress by law appoints a different day.
