http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=news/national_world&id=6566049&rss=rss-ktrk-article-6566049 Michael Connell, 45, of Akron, died in the crash, said Ohio State Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Tony Bradshaw. The crash sparked a fire that damaged the garage of the house, which is in foreclosure.
No one on the ground was injured. There were no passengers in the plane, a Piper Saratoga.
Airport spokeswoman Kristie VanAuken said the pilot was attempting to land at Akron-Canton Airport, which is about two miles from the house, before the crash. The plane went down in a residential area surrounded by farmland.
Early reports indicate the plane took off from Pennsylvania, Bradshaw said.
Neighbors told The Canton Repository that they heard what sounded like an engine sputtering before the crash and that the noise sounded like it was coming from a plane.
