Parents lose custody of Nazi-named children
Agency removes 3-year-old named Adolf Hitler, 2 sisters from N.J. home

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Three New Jersey siblings whose names have Nazi connotations have been placed in the custody of the state, police said Wednesday.

Holland Township Police Sgt. John Harris said workers from the state Division of Youth and Family Services removed 3-year-old Adolf Hitler Campbell and his younger sisters, JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell, from their home Tuesday.

Harris said family services did not tell police the reason the children were removed. Agency spokeswoman Kate Bernyk said it does not comment on specific cases.

The children and their parents, Heath and Deborah Campbell, received attention last month when a supermarket bakery refused to put Adolf Hitler Campbell's name on a birthday cake.

1. naming your kid Adolf Hitler is a red flag
jokes aside, it does show that you might not have your kid's welfare as a high priority.

23. no, it wasn't
I hate those stupid names.

Kids are growing up not even knowing how to spell their own names.

29. My son went to school with a boy named Fillup
His parents were "spelling-challenged"... needless to say, on the football field, his name was GAS :)

34. Sometimes they can't even spell them into adulthood
I was working at a predeployment screening thing at Fort Drum, NY, in 1992 (yes, this was for Poppy Bush's welcoming gift to President Clinton) and was helping to type up wills for deploying soldiers. I asked this one kid how to spell his middle name. "I don't know." He didn't, too...the man pulled a card with his middle name written on it out of his wallet, and it had 19 letters in it.

And before anyone asks, this was a white guy whose mom decided to saddle him with the longest middle name in history. I wish I could remember it.

Zamboni was also a boy name contender

Seriously they better have something more than just a name issue to pull the kids out of there. That won't stick in a court.

think you can snatch kids for getting bad names. At least I hope not!!

14. I remember reading that the state had been in contact with them before
regarding their children, when I read the story about the cake debacle. So, I think you're probably right. It had be about something else.

22. Precisely.
I worked for Child Protective Services for seven years, and am well aware of the high threshold that needs to be met before children stay out of their parents' custody beyond the 48 hours (or even to take them into protective custody immediately). There is much, much more beyond the name issue. The name issue isn't even an issue - when it comes to dependency law.

Unfortunately, statistically-speaking, I'll bet meth is involved.

28. Right, nobody ever abused or neglected their kids before meth.
I guess we'll see if meth is involved.

31. That is not at all what I am saying.
Thanks for the jerky knee jerk reaction. I've been around more than one block, I've known all kinds of people, and white supremacist and methamphetamines go hand in hand.

Do a little research, or maybe live a little and you'll see what I mean. Have a nice day.

21. Poor kids
I'm pretty sure it wasn't the names themselves that got them removed. I hope it wasn't something completely horrible. Bad enough CPS needed to be involved, never a good sign.

Yeah, I'll also bet it was far more than just the kids' names that brought this.

The parents are probably tweakers... At the minimum...

36. Basically, it's not their business or their duty to know
That's for the Judge who issued the warrant and the Courts. This is actually not unusual (I adted a cop for three years -- don't ask me why).
