By training and by instinct. If you can get back through the airplane, if it's not burning inside, you have to walk it and make sure all the passengers are off.

6. I Thought Bloomberg Was About To Crack One Liners... |
|
An incredible story...I just am wondering if the Circle Line charged these people the full round trip fare.
Heads up and three cheers for the pilots for keeping cool and to the first responders who got these people out of harm's way in a hurry.

Yeah, I heard CNN say he would. Bull. He is secluded in a hotel room somewhere in Manhattan with ALPA (Air Line Pilots' Association, our union) and USAir attorneys and management. As I would be if I'd been on that crew.
You can bet your ass somebody will sue. Guarantee it.
The cardinal rule for air crews is that nobody talks to anybody except union or personal attorneys, or company legal, following an incident/accident.
THEN you talk to NTSB. :-)
