Accident on Metro Rail Red Line
Posted at 9:59 AM ET, 01/20/2009
Avoid the Red Line

Metro is reporting that a woman was struck by a Red Line train at the Gallery Place Metro station this morning at 9:25 a.m. by a train heading in the direction of Glenmont. A Metro spokeswoman said the person is alive and is between the crawl space and the first rail car, though police are unsure how the woman ended up on the tracks.

Police are investigating, and Metro has shut down the Red Line at Metro Center and Gallery Place, turning trains around at Farragut North and Gallery Place, causing "major delays" along the red line throughout the city. Passengers are warned to avoid the Red Line in the downtown area.

Metro warns that passengers should stay at least two feet away from the station platform edges, a hazard that increases with crowds. Metro said they had more than 409,000 entries into the system as of 9 a.m.

2. I hate the metros of our nation, at least one line in France has screen doors.
We need to get those.
