For all domestic and international flights, the U.S. threat level is High, or Orange. See the Transportation Security Administration for up-to-date information on items permitted and prohibited on airlines.

There is no credible, specific intelligence suggesting an imminent threat that would affect the 56th Presidential Inaugural on Tuesday, January 20. The Inaugural is designated as a National Special Security Event. The United States Secret Service, in cooperation with its local, state and federal security and public safety partners, developed an overall security plan for the Washington, D.C. metro area. This plan includes road closures, security screenings, as well as additional air and water security measures.

There is an unprecedented level of security involving more than 58 federal, state and local agencies for this Inauguration, and related events. Inauguration events could present an attractive target due to the large public gatherings and participation of many dignitaries.
