Poll question: Did Roberts flub the oath so that Obama's legitamacy might be questioned?
Edited on Thu Jan-22-09 02:03 AM by Skip Intro

That is the first thing I thought when I read about it here.

This may have already been posted, I can't see how it was not, and if so, apologies.

Nonetheless, I ask, did Roberts purposely flub the oath in some insane effort to discredit Obama?

on edit: Roberts is not old

1. OK...
I truly think his ego got the better of him, he tried to deliver it from memory and fucked it up, but then again, I am terminally naive

7. Yes he did, it was on purpose.
That was the first thing I thought when it happened and we've all seen enough over these last eight long years to understand exactly why everyone expects these bastards to pull a fast one at every opportunity.

Sorry if it was an honest mistake Justice Chief Roberts (damn...how'd I get that wrong?) but just look around you for why you're catching heat. The real truth is you didn't even come to be standing on the Capitol steps Tuesday morning honestly.

9. Geez...
Obama made the first flub. He started speaking before Roberts got through the first sentence.

Presume he's a GOP insider on vote steals --

I don't think it's possible to think too little of these people nor

think anything too dirty for them ---

but, no way to know what was actually in this right wing fanatic's mind.

16. He did it subconsciously
I don't think he planned it, but he hates Obama and subconsciously did it as a Freudian slip.

I know people who know Roberts. We all know how conservative his opinions are, but he has this phony upper crust WASPy exterior. He is no different than Scalia, he is just better at presenting himself as a thoughtful, moderate person.

17. Obama retook the oath with Roberts WITHOUT the bible WTF???
Edited on Thu Jan-22-09 05:48 AM by TWiley
Roberts forgot the bible. Obama did not have his fucking hand on the bible the second time Roberts gave the Oath. Whew, and you say it was an accident?

The whole problem in this screw up was with the Christians, properly worded prayers gain entrance to heaven, and now they don't use the bible. Precious..... or is that Priceless?

25. Republicans work on symbolism
And the symbolism of having Obama's first words of his presidency mangled, works for them.

Watched the tape of the proceeding and when Roberts came down the stairs, he had a real smug appearance -- like he was hiding something. Like he was up to no good.

Whatever, the idea that the head judge of the whole US could mess up such a solemn constitutional event should give pause to anyone suggesting we just let it slide. IOW, we should all be pissed that such a thing happened - minor as it may seem, it is something to be roundly criticized and rejected wholeheartedly.

Excusing Roberts in any way, shape, or form, is brown nosing and leads to defeat of our progressive agenda. People, don't be weenies - when the republicans flub anything, complain and complain loudly!

No more of this "No big deal". That is how we got bushwacked 8 years ago. Just stop it!

21. It was an honest mistake by another lazy moron Bush Ooompaloompa
If it was a real attempt at doing something nasty to Obama, it was a pretty stupid one. It could be very easily corrected, which is what happened the next day anyway.
