Cousin Brucie/Buddy Holly Fans! "50 Winters Later" Sirius broadcast TONIGHT on 60s @ 6 Sirius
Edited on Sat Jan-31-09 09:33 PM by 1Hippiechick
I have totally re-written this post! Cousin Brucie IS broadcasting live tonight from Clear Lake, Iowa, BUT he is on 60s on 6 rather than 50s on 5 Sirius radio. He is conducting on-air live interviews.

Graham Nash, the Crickets, Los Lobos and more to perform at Buddy Holly tribute
Graham Nash, Tommy Allsup, the Crickets, Bobby Vee, Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys, Joe Ely and Wanda Jackson will perform Feb. 2 at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake in a "50 Winters Later" concert to honor the 50th anniversary of the 1959 Winter Dance Party tour starring Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and the Surf Ballroom (www.surfballroom.com) have partnered to produce the event. SIRIUS XM Radio host Bruce “Cousin Brucie” Morrow will be the emcee and Sandra Boynton and Sir Tim Rice will participate in the tribute portion of the concert. Cousin Brucie will be emceeing the "50 Winters Later" special tribute to Buddy Holly at Winter.

2. Yeah, I probably need to change my name to OLD Hippie Chick. LOL
Yeah, I was only 12 when the plane crashed, but I remember it well - I was just getting into music in the late 50s. I have wondered over the years if Elvis would have ever made it big if Buddy had survived. I can't find this broadcast on Sirius "50s on 5", but other internet notes indicate that it will be rebroadcast on February 2nd, AND the tribute is being filmed to be shown on PBS later. God, I will have to record THAT one!
