Senate seats - What is the difference between Blagojevich and Gregg?
Sen. McConnell is making remarks that if Obama selects republican Gregg for a cabinet post that the numbers will not change in the senate. Apparently some sort of "deal" has been worked out to keep the seat republican.

So how is this any different from Blagojevich making deals to select a particular person for Obama's seat a few weeks ago? Yes, Blagojevich was accused of trying to directly benefit from seating someone, but the republicans as a part are trying to benefit themselves.

1. Senate seates are valuable. That part is the same.
The "what you want in return for giving one" is different.

No bank CEO won with what Blago wanted in return. Every Bank CEO wins with what McConnel wants in return.

3. From what I understand, it has nothing to do with a "deal." Some believe that...
...the Governor of NH will choose a Rape-Publican because the people of NH elected Gregg, a Rape-Publican. Of course, if he chooses an East Coast Rape-Publican who caucuses with the Dems, so what?

6. Mitch explicitly said a deal is being worked out
and my state has been swept clean by Democrats for the last two election cycles - appointing a refucklian would be a travesty.

8. So what exactly is your understanding based on?
The only news reports I've seen indicate that a deal is being worked out.

4. beats me - seems like some quid pro quo is good, other is felonious
but then again I am in the minority who think that Fitzgerald is a dubious DA and that Blagojevich is getting shafted, even if he is a nutcase.

5. any "deal" to me seems illegal and no different than pay to play.
But, that's the way politics works. It's disgusting. Senate seats should NOT be appointed.
