Afghanistan and Arizona

First: Cardinal Red uniforms and the Cardinals nickname belongs in St Louis, not Arizona. Arizona could easily be more credible if they wore blue/gold and had the Rams nickname. Their owners should talk about an exchange. I'm no football fan. Yet, this is stupid. The Cardinals are St Louis.

Second but more important: I have grave fears about growing the troop strength in Afghanistan. What is the purpose? I suppose it is to destroy al-qaida in the Afghan mountains bordering Pakistan. This is the graveyard of armies. Even if we defeat al-qaida, they will always return. The entire mideast strategy was flawed from the outset. Rome's legions invaded the northern provinces. Their armies defeated the northern tribes time after time again. But, it was futile. The northern tribes eventually banded together in their hatred of Rome, and the day came when they burned Rome itself and ended their empire. Make peace with the barbarians and come home. The money from that flawed foreign venture is needed for our tired economy, ravaged by war.

As for your opinion on Afghanistan, how do you make peace with barbarians? Like a fellow DUer posted, which misogynistic Taliban policy do you like best? The one that pens women into their homes like sheep? The one that forces women to wear the Burka? The one where people are beheaded for teaching girls to read? Which one?

Assuming that my peaceful attitude toward al-qaida must mean that I like the Taliban's teachings. Or that I like al-qaida's methods either. Or that I approved of Pol-Pot or Idi Amin or Joe Stalin.

If an owner decides to move or sell the team, the nickname should have to stay with the city. It's like selling a city's soul. You can't sell the soul of a city.
