1. A-
I gave him an A- because he's doing much, much better than Drinky McDumbass did during his first couple weeks in office. With Drinky, I'd give him a grade of F- for his work as President.

2. 'A' for Obama personally
. . . really too early to make this kind of judgment, though, in the absence of some huge, consequential, or catastrophic event or decision.

4. Incomplete
Not enough data for a meaningful grade.

I'll give him an E (Excellent) for citizenship.

5. "I" for incomplete
It's like steering a battleship, there is so much lag between action and effect, it's impossible to tell.

Also, diplomacy is mostly done via backchannels so we have no visibility there either.

Incomplete, not enough data.

He lost an A+ for not ending rendition and for waffling on don't ask don't tell.

8. I am impressed with the speed at which he is addressing some issues
But (and this may be my stubborn streak coming through,) he needs to remember that the won in a landslide and that he is the President. Seek bi-partisanship, and if it doesn't come, lead. And work that mandate.

9. solid C . . . some good stuff, but still showing no signs of the kind of radical thinking . . .
that's going to be needed to pull us out of the BushCo mess and save us from economic and environmental disaster . . .

making nice with the Republicans and their corporations, not pursuing the BushCo illegalities, continuing the war in Afghanistan (and, for now at least, Iraq), not embracing single payer healthcare reform, etc. will not get us where we need to go . . . he needs to be thinking w-a-a-a-y outside the box, and I haven't seen any signs of that yet . . .

10. A-

Embracing unions, ending secret prisons, redirecting from Iraq are all good ideas.

But his agenda of 'bipartisanship' is not too good. The GOP was trounced in 2006 & 2008 because they can't lead and their ideas suck. Combining their terrible ideas with decent democratic ideas won't result in amazing ideas. Just so-so ones. If they can't bring good ideas to the table (ie tax cuts and tax cuts for the rich won't solve everything) then fuck them. Adding their non-working, bad ideas to a stimulus is not good politics.

Gates, Daschle, Geithner, Pakistan missile strikes, Afghan troop increase, lobbyist hypocrisy = failing grade.
