5. Actually the cause is global warming, which is slowing the Gulf Stream = less layer inversion
The result of global warming for Great Britain is a much less temperate climate during the winter, according to climate scientists.

19. I'm heading to London on Saturday -- I hear it's a mess
My UK colleagues emailed to tell me that everything there has shut down. I live in Maine, so it looks like a lot of fuss over nothing. But then, Londoners aren't prepared with snowplows and snow tires the way we New Englanders are.
