It's bringing the racists out into the light. It was bad enough for them to stomach having Obama as the first black president. But they could rationalize that by saying to themselves "well he's a Democrat." But now that they have a black man as the head of their own party, they're besides themselves with rage. To them, this is the ultimate betrayal. David Duke may be ostracized within his own party, but only because he always dared to say in public what many repukes thought in private.

Obama's 8 years (I think he'll win re-election) is going to (and has already brought out) the inherent racism in parts of the GOP. Limbaugh I'm sure will be ramping it up a notch as well. After four years of it, there's no way the GOP will run a non-white in 2012, and in 2016, they'll be so desperate for a white person to be in charge again that Jindal will be picked over. If the GOP wins in 2016, the president will run again in 2020 so Jindal won't be able to. Otherwise, Jindal's best bet is 2020 if a democrat is in office. Otherwise, he'll have to risk settling for the vice-presidential nomination, which could help to sink the ticket.
Now with putting Steele in charge, the GOP is going to fracture even more due to its racism.

Some of them were vowing to drop out of the party and voting altogether.
With this news, I think Steele is great as head of the RNC. It will further their demise.
