Poll: Republicans want Palin as model for GOP (Nearly half think party has been too moderate.)
http://www.salon.com/politics/war_room/2009/02/02/palin_poll/index.html?source=rss&aim=/politics/war_room

Republican voters who responded to a recent Rasmussen poll have a solution for the GOP's woes: Become more conservative, and more like Sarah Palin. 43 percent of Republicans say the party has been too moderate over the past eight years. 55 percent say they think Palin should become the model for the national GOP.

This is the kind of thing that can lead to a cycle of defeat. The Republican Party has, for some time now, been getting older, whiter and more conservative, in direct contrast to trends in the country as a whole. The GOP's remaining partisans, then, naturally want their party to look more like them. That, however, only means a further contraction of its appeal. Lather, rinse, repeat.

For evidence, look no further than that same Rasmussen poll: Overall, 42 percent of respondents believe the Republican Party has been too conservative. 56 percent of self-described moderates gave that answer, as did 64 percent of the Democratic respondents. And 42 percent of moderates, -- a plurality -- said that John McCain, not Palin, should provide the model for the GOP's future.

2. "42 percent of moderates"

How many moderates are there in the Republican Party? 2?

42% of 2 is what?

3. Please, DO that.

Crown the true heir to the House of Slyther . . . er . . . Reagan. Anoint the Alaskan Queen Crap. PLEASE.

This tabloid nutbar will lead us to about as large a landslide as Reagan/Mondale.

Does the GOP SERIOUSLY not believe there are more than a handful of people in this nation who would be scared shitless at the idea of a neo-laiskan dilettante like Sarah Palin as President? It'd be like George Bewsh, only without the Brand Name they all know and love.

5. The moderates have jumped ship...
leaving the "cloven-hooved reactionaries" in charge. It should be no surprise that the ones who remain (with Rush as their cheerleader) think that the way to go is even farther to the right, and that Palin is their annointed savior.

9. Cheers....THAT made me laugh today (not easy to do)...
The news is just getting worse and worse on all fronts and I don't know how much longer it will be until the axe drops on me as well...but the "cloven-hooved reactionaries" made me smile...KUDOS!

On another note, if the GOP is possibly so overrun with idiots that they could possibly think Palin is anything but Seppuku for their excuse of a party, then we will be rid of them forever by 2014...

13. Moostache, that came from Ron Reagan...
...when he was guest on a radio show yesterday. He also broke me up talking about Cheney rolling out of his office in wheelchair, cane in hand, looking like Mr. Potter in "It's a Wonderful Life."

6. Sarah Lapin is a perfect model for the GOP
Edited on Mon Feb-02-09 04:05 PM by MineralMan
She knows nothing, can barely put a simple declarative sentence together, and is a moron. That matches up with all the folks I know on the "conservative" side of the GOP.

I'm all for it. Let her lead the party to destruction. Huzzah!

N.B: Lapin is not a misspelling. I intend to refer to the Governor of Alaska with that name from now on. Her resemblance to a rabbit is remarkable. Twitchy little nose and all.

7. Please become more reactionary. Please.
Become more intolerant, racist, wealth worshiping, insular, older, and out of touch with the social goals of mainstream America.

Please become the regional party your destiny has shown you will become.

The rest of the country will move forward without having to acknowledge your existence on the political scene.

We are coming close to ignoring your childish theatrics now.

Please.

Republicans, if they believe in Palin as any kind of savior, are saturated with idiocity. Clear to the bone.

Either they do this and become marginalized, or they get smart and become moderate.

Either way, Democrats win.
