On edit: a few cherce nuggets:

I guess all those "conservatives" who thought new RNC Chair Micahel Steele was the next "coming of conservatism" better think again. 2010 definitely does not look good now for the GOP, especially conservatives

Nothing wrong with reaching out and trying to find common ground on other issues.

If you live in Maryland, you know that Steele is no conservative. He is in fact a moderate with leftward leanings.

The information is out there.

If you are surprised that the RNC hired a RINO, then you have not been paying attention.

7. The LAST thing Democrats need is for The Republick Party to start making sense and being tolerant.
Not right after we just successfully pegged them as The Party of Limbaugh.

12. THis one says it all...
"Yes....and what a slap to Christian Conservatives, who are the strongest voting bloc in the GOP"

The strongest voting bloc in the GOP is a bunch of people who believe the end of the world is imminent, folks.

15. And they just lurrrved him two days ago,
I’m really happy that Steele is now the RNC chairman and it is not because he’s an African-American. Steele is not afraid to talk about how the cow ate the cabbage. We’ll be seeing a lot of him on TV. We’ll finally have someone out there from the RNC who will be pounding home the conservative message. Black or white, we needed someone to grab the reins of this buggy. We’ve finally got someone who I believe will do just that.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Steele is a good man. I hope he's also a strong man. He will suffer the slings and arrows from the worst the Dems have to offer.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, I hope people didn't vote for him to garner the black vote, but I'm sure it ran through their thoughts. It sounds like he is spot on about not allowing the dems define the pubs... time to step forward with the pubs own message about who they are and what they believe in.

Poor freeps.

No difference to a Dominionist I guess...
Though it is fun to watch them beat on each other for not sufficiently worshiping St. Ronnie or daring to speak with heretics.

19. They need to realize that their base, white Christian consevatives are not a majority
Not even close. They're louder than most but they're not a majority. GOP would not lose elections if there were a "conservative" nation. Obama won the youth vote, the black vote, the hispanic vote, the female vote. The angry white male can only win if everyone chooses to stay home. I hope those who came out in support of Obama will recognize how important the 2010 vote will be.
