PETA offers $2,500 reward in dog killing
The animal-rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is offering a $2,500 reward to catch the person who recently killed a dog in Kalamazoo's Edison neighborhood by dousing it with household cleaner.

Police have said that an intruder or intruders broke into a house Jan. 13 in the 100 block of East Maple Street and poured the chemicals on Lucky, a dark-haired Dachshund-papillion mix. The dog was in a cage at the time.

``People are disgusted and horrified by this case,'' said Kristin DeJournett, a cruelty-case worker for PETA. ``The dog wasn't posing any threat to the burglars, and I can't imagine why they would douse him with chemicals other than to just be cruel and heartless.''

Their support of terrorist groups is well known and head loon, Ingrid Newkirk makes no secret of it.

Edited on Mon Feb-02-09 10:14 PM by Cid_B
There was a showtime show called "Bullshit" with Penn and Teller. One of their best episodes was about PETA. I'm sure you can find it online.

Edit: One of the scenes included an arsonist explaining to a class how to make an incendiary device and the PETA tax returns "loaning" his father 25000 while his son was on the run. If I had time I would find the guys name. He was a big ALF guy and possible an ELF but no time to look now.

You made an accusation about a charity. A very vulnerable, easily investigated charity. And you compare that to the Bush/Cheney empire? Weak.

So then what you're saying is there's not proof of your accusation?

Your claim was they hadn't been "charged and convicted" as you infer that makes them innocent. My retort was neither has the Bush/Cheney cabal. Is this so hard to understand?

If you want proof, ask for proof. If you want to make a smartassed comment, expect one in return.

Is how people can support an organization like PETA. Either they are ignorant of who they support, or they are just as batshit crazy as Ingrid Newkirk.

If one truly believes in animal rights and ethical treatment of them, there are much better organizations to support.

I don't really understand why people have a problem with this story. PETA is offering a reward to catch a sick twisted person.
Plus, people who do crap like this to animals are likely to hurt people too.
If this was the SPCA, I doubt that there would be a peep of disagreement. I have this funny idea that even if I disagree with an organizations behavior, I will judge them on individual acts. And this act, I applaud.

74. i'd like to add that i am not even opposed to ending the h-1b visas now
that americans desperately need jobs. Its the callousness and gloating at other peoples problems that gets me. so unnecessarily cruel. also the random lies about indians people know.

by the way, have i ever told you about my white friends xyz from whom i can extrapolate to a lot more white people?

75. I feel exactly the same way.
Of course, any time I mention my problem is with attacking Indians in general, I get shouted down as a "corporatist," even though I'm opposed to the H-1B program as a whole.

It's ironic that anytime the subject of illegal immigration comes up, any remotely unflattering thing said about Latinos is attacked (as it should be), but apparently, Indians are fair game.

by the way, have i ever told you about my white friends xyz from whom i can extrapolate to a lot more white people?

No, but I bet he's like the rest of 'em. :sarcasm: :P
