Ohio St. OL Boone arrested in California

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. (AP) — Ohio State offensive lineman Alex Boone has been arrested after being subdued with a Taser during an alleged drunken tirade.

Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino says the 6-foot-8, 312-pound tackle was jumping on car hoods, yanking on a tow truck cable and trying to break a window when he was arrested late Sunday.

Amormino says the 21-year-old, who appeared intoxicated, was combative and uncooperative with sheriff's deputies and had to be taken down with a Taser. He was taken to a hospital and then to a jail medical ward, where he remains.

24. Grrrrrrrrrrr!
Normally I would complain, but hell, we'll take him! How much worse can we do? I pity the Detroit cops that run into him on a Friday night though :)

6. Perfect use of the taser
Edited on Mon Feb-02-09 06:50 PM by nichomachus
He was a clear danger to others and to the arresting officers. Before tasers, they would have shot him. He's lucky.

7. Lakewood St Edward product . . .
There was this article in the Cleveland PD on how he supposedly cleaned himself up, as he has a history of PI dating back to his high school days. Alcoholism is no joke. Alex has a problem that needs to be corrected for good before he goes any farther.

Unfortunately, the NFL life isn't necessarily going to allow for that.

9. Public intoxication isn't necessarily a bad thing
Some people are just silly or even funny. Other people, like this guy, are dangers to themselves and others. I went to school with a guy -- a great big (not fat, just big) guy who was a gentle giant. He was very smart, very quiet, and a kind person. Give him a few beers and he was totally out of control -- violent, aggressive, pretty scary. If I saw him drunk or getting close to it, I would just get out.

13. Funny I've been around a lot of drunks in my life and not one
of them was silly or funny. They are always overbearing, a pain in the ass, have chips on their shoulders and think they can whip everyone. I guess I just missed out on those "funny" drunks.

Edited on Mon Feb-02-09 06:58 PM by YOY
No shocker... All the other Catholic Schools kind of hate them and Iggys for recruiting the best players with scholarships.

Meh, I had a few friends who went there that said that the Football heroes got away with murder...smart dudes just avoided them.

shocked I tell ya.

18. I love how people espouse the supposed "fairness" of Iggy, Ed's and the dozens of Cincy parochials.
St. Obnoxious has won, what, 10 state championships in the past 20 years (including this year) and have rarely missed the playoffs?

It's either them winning football titles or some Cincinnati parochial school in every division winning football and basketball titles. Ridiculous.

21. Hey I have a friend or two who went to Iggys or Eds and had a great education.

It's just a matter of avoiding the neanderthals who suck up a proper scholarships so the school gains notoriety. I knew a kid from grade school who, hindsight being 20/20, I realize was quite gay who went there. I bet he was threatened if not assaulted on a number of occasions.

I thought my HS Football coach was obnoxious at Padua Franciscan...I heard stories about the wonders of testosterone bullying OTHER teachers at other schools.

When those few schools hog up any chance of just regular hard working players (no matter how good as a team), it became a joke. Nobody had any thoughts of ever getting to the playoffs. What's the point when your 3 6'3" guys are dwarfed by their 6'8" and hulking recruiting efforts? Not to mention the poor regular kid QBs and regular backs who have to get tackled by that kind of behemoths.

I thought it was only 9 year old school children or old women who got tasered?
