Is Rachel done on Air America?

I am streaming AA, and Ron Reagan now has her time slot. Is she no longer doing her radio show? Reagan is OK (too bad it's not Sammy :( ) but Rachel was a little edgier on her radio show than she was on MSNBC.

Maybe they moved her around... not all affiliates put the show on at the prescribed time.

6. She is done with her show on AAR.

They will re-broadcast the previous night's MSNBC TV show in the wee hours of the morning on Air America.

They bought her off, effectively. She used to do three hours of live radio a day, and now does one hour.

Air America: rachel moves to mornings, ron reagan gets three hours

Ron Reagan show producer, Tina Nole says, "Our mantra is: 'progressive is the new main stream.'"

That's certainly hopeful -- as are the prospects of liberal radio on the multimedia platforms of Air America these days.

Rachel Maddow will move to morning drive in a newImages Air America schedule that's better for her gig on MSNBC. Where she's been doing early evenings just before her teevee show, now she'll anchor an early one-hour show using some of the MSNBC stuff and some radio-only content. AAR will roll it at 6a, 7a and 8a.

(We're glad to see Rachel sticking with the tiny, but upwardly frisky Air America instead of leveraging her hottie-hot, new hotness to go with Premiere or Westwood One).

Seattleite Ron Reagan got those two more hours at Air America (as we knew he would). He'll take the 6-9p (EST) early evenings vacated by Rachel.

Reagan producer ex-Seattleite Tina Nole says, so longer format also allows for some human interest type interviews and other things besides politics. Although our primary focus will be of course be politics."

She says the longer time allows for more callers to the Ron Reagan show. .

Schedule changes to both shows will be on Feb. 2.

4. I saw something here in L.A. where the local station had moved Ron Reagan into

the slot after Randi Rhodes, and Rachel to overnights - a rebroadcast of her MSNBC show.

It's obvious she puts a tremendous amount of thought and work into the MSNBC program - maybe the logistics just aren't there.

Whatever gives her the biggest audience works for me.

7. On a related note, Thom Hartmann might be leaving AAR on March 1st

According to this http://www.radioink.com/Article.asp?id=1141065&spid=24698">press release, it seems that Thom's show will be syndicated by Dial Global (the owners of Jones Radio Networks, who also syndicate Bill Press, Stephanie Miller, and Ed Schultz):

NEW YORK -- February 2, 2009: Dial Global and WYD Management have announced an agreement under which Dial Global will provide advertising sales and affiliate representation for The Thom Hartmann Show, beginning March 1. The show airs from noon-3 p.m. ET and currently airs in Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, and other markets.

"With the addition of Thom Hartmann, Dial Global solidifies its position as the premier content provider of the very best progressive Talk radio," said Dial Global SVP/GM, News/Talk Amy Bolton. "Dial Global now offers 12 hours of proven, winning progressive talk shows. We're delighted to work with Thom and WYD."

WYD's Ron Hartenbaum said, "It is great to be reunited with so many friends and former colleagues who are at Dial Global. In a tough economic environment, we are pleased to be working with such an aggressive team on all aspects of our business."

So why was it that I subscribe to AA again? hmmm....no more TYT, Laura Flanders overlooked, Mike Malloy fired, Marc Maron overlooked, Sammy overlooked (sort of)....

The only progressive star they had left is Hartmann.

I don't know what Air America's problem is. They've driven away every passionate and successful liberal host they've ever had.

With proper promotion and development, they could have had a left-leaning network that rivalled Clear Channel's.

8. Her show is on 5-6 am Eastern time daily, which sucks for me.

No more listening to her in the car to or from work on XM Radio. I get my choice of Bill Press in the AM or Ron Reagan in the PM, and neither one of those floats my boat.

Guess I'll just have to listen more faithfully to the podcasts . . . .
