"Demonstrating what being a Democrat means" in action on DU - we should be proud.
Think about it. After eight years, pretty much all of us here were jumping for joy following the election and have much to be impressed about with Obama. But right from the beginning, there have been many points of view - some critical of his decisions for this and that, and especially with the non-payment of tax problem, many have been quite hard on Obama and the administration. This is what Democrats do - the tent is big.

Think about the behavior of Republicans over the past 8 years - what we saw on TV, what we read in blogs. Goose step-lock step with Bush every time he opened his mouth and farted...er, spoke. Republicans can't think for themselves - they need to be told and they follow.

Keep up the praise, criticism, ideas, and both the positive and the negative. Taking the country back and dealing with things will not be - cannot be - easy. It is only in diversity of thought and approach will Obama get there. And he needs to be held accountable for keeping to his word - just like each of us would expect to be if we were in a similar position.

It is breathtaking to see the stark differences between Dem and Repub being played out daily here!

1. I will confess that I'm comforted by a certain level of "in-fighting" and criticism here.
It shows that we're willing to hold ourselves to the same standard we hold others to.

2. That should include the sorry excuse, "Well the Republicans were worse".
What is right, is right. A simple concept that should not take much explaining. What is wrong is also wrong, but that takes a lot of explaining away.

It's not a defense of anything. It means I'm glad to see Democracts and progressives going after their kindred when it's necessary. You made a giant leap of logic there unless I misunderstood you.

5. I simply mean that standards are standards.
We cannot excuse Democrats just because they are not as bad as Republicans.

6. And I absolutely agree with you.
Sorry for getting confused. I've had a long day here.
