Joe the Plumber advises GOP-ers
Source: Politico

Fresh off his stint as a war correspondent in Gaza, Joe the Plumber is now doing political strategy with Republicans.

When GOP congressional aides gather Tuesday morning for a meeting of the Conservative Working Group, Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher – more commonly known as Joe the Plumber — will be their featured guest. This group is an organization of conservative Capitol Hill staffers who meet regularly to chart GOP strategy for the week.

Wurzelbacher, who became a household name during the presidential election, will be focusing his talk on the proposed stimulus package. He's apparently not a fan of the economic rescue package, according to members of the group.

If nothing else, GOP aides are using the appearance to get staffers to attend the 9 a.m meeting.

“In case you weren’t planning to attend CWG tomorrow morning, you might want to reconsider because Joe the Plumber will be joining us!” Kimberly Wallner, an aide to South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, wrote in a message to her e-mail list this afternoon.

He's just as much a right loony as she is.

37. But aren't "Spunk" and "Moxie" copyrighted to Katherine Harris?
In the interest of fairness, Sarah's going to have to come up with her own. Like "Peter" and "Bilt" or "Left" and "Right" or something like that.

4. This only gets more and more bizarre
Can't the Repugs figure out what their problem is? They didn't need to flush out Joe, did they? What a joke.

I'd almost wish Alaska would fire Palin for not showing up at work, but then we'd have her 24/7. I'm praying she burns out her popularity before the 2012 campaign begins. That would be cruel and unusual treatment to listen to her for 2 years of "you betchas"!

No way!

28. Typical
Well this is GOPopulism 101. They know they can no longer rely entirely on the religious reich footsoldiers in the echoing footsteps of an oncoming depression/depening-recession. They know they need to pump up their horatio alger/bootstraps game considerably higher.

They will do this by bitching about taxes, talking about the employers-parading out a string of them, and pointing out anything they think is wasteful.

The way to fight faux populism is with the real thing. Big, bold plans with explanations about what is going on and who is being helped. If the GOP makes it about all the little extra details and keep the story there we start to bleed. If we keep it about the big things: Healthcare, Jobs, Education etc. then they lose.

16. He got the degree the same place he got a plumping license
This is really really strange. This has to show a level of desperation beyond what I expected. Joe simply parroted Limbaugh in 2008 - so I think maybe he got his degree from Limbaugh's school of conservative thought. (worth less than the prize in a box of cracker jacks.)

9. Interesting how they elevate someone with no expertise
Palin and Plumber both have serious flaws in their experience and skills and yet are lauded as if they are at the top of their game. What can JtP possibly contribute to the discussion other than opinion? Does he have knowledge of economics.... Oh wait what am I thinking? The repukes don't value knowledge or experience, they prefer to undermine both of these. He's perfect for them. He's smarter than * and * was president.

Crazy people. Do they really think anyone believes that they are for the average "Joe" in this country? No one is buying it and they shouldn't be selling it.

10. That's got to be pretty insulting for many of those people.
Here's some dumbass, unlicensed, part-time employed plumber, who happens to ask Obama what was in reality a really stupid question (I have a chance to buy a company which would give me an income of $250k/year. Should I not do it because I might net $300 less than $250K because of your tax law changes?) and manages to give him a flip reply instead of seriously contemplating the answer, suddenly Joe is the darling of the GOP. Now they are taking policy advice from him? Kind of a slap in the face to people who have actually studied economics or business or finance to be lectured to by an uneducated plumber.

It's so hard not to just laugh when I hear that an old acquaintance is a republican. Recently some old school friends added me to their facebook pages. When I looked at their info pages, I just wanted to laugh. Some are members of Palin's application, other Rush fans, and another belongs to the we love you gwb (or something like that) group.

this happened to me recently - people I work with. I got all bent out of shape by the lies they had posted (sadly, I think they are nice people and believe this stuff) and went on a fact rampage of sorts.

:-)

I will try laughing in the future.
