How to get into the USA without a passport.
With the requirement fast approaching for all of us to have passports to get back into the country when we visit neighboring countries, Homeland Security is trying out an idea to skirt that decree. It's a special drivers license with built-in security features. If it works in the trial (launching in just one border state), it'll probably be adapted by other border states.

But I don't understand why the license should be for just border states. Why not all states? People from more than just adjacent states travel into Mexico and Canada. Where I live, it's routine to travel into Canada on day trips -- and there's a state between us and them.

1. There are reasons they want you to use passports. they will have a history of where
you travel to, and noone will be able to go to cuba like they used to.

2. I could see that for places that are overseas -- but Canada? Mexico?
Around here, people go by the busload to Canada just about every day -- for meds and gambling. And what about Canadians. They'll have to get a passport to come here and spend their money on vacation. Places like Detroit will be hurting as fewer people travel on impulse as they do now.

I would guess that's going to be the case all along the border, unless people will be more eager than I think they will be to go through the passport process. I know I wouldn't bother, given how few times per year I feel like going over the border.

About going to Cuba: many years ago I was married to a Cuban. There was an industrialist who offered to arrange a trip there for us, despite the laws against it. It would have involved traveling through some other countries to get there -- which was something the industrialist did many times. I turned him down because I don't like prison, but my husband was tempted. He missed his homeland. Still does, in fact.

3. It is easy to go to Cuba.

Just go to Cancun and buy your ticket with cash. Bring lots of cash; your credit cards won't work there. They will not stamp your passport. Going to Cuba is a civil matter, not a criminal matter. No one is in jail for having gone to Cuba. In fact, the US is only threatening fines to those who break the law. Some people pay them. Others refuse. If threatened with a fine, you can ask for a hearing and none is given because the US is unwilling to put the unconstitutional travel ban on trial.

4. There's another way to do it
Pretend you're Mexican, buy some forged papers, come here by way of the desert, then go to your local welfare office and demand benefits. Works for thousands of people each year....

11. Yet, this is for WA state, the NORTHERN border, not the SOUTHERN border
Same as how the Minutemen prove their "equality" and NON-racism by "patrolling" the NORTHERN border with a WHOLE four----------count'em FOUR-------Minutemen, while letting loose with their clown routine on the SOUTHERN border!!1
