Obama Justice Department Re-Hires Attorney Fired By Goodling Because Of Lesbian Rumor»
http://thinkprogress.org/2009/02/03/hagen-doj-rehire/

In October 2006, Leslie Hagen, who was working as the liaison between the Justice Department and the U.S. attorneys’ committee on Native American issues, was informed that despite her “outstanding” job performance reviews, her contract would not be renewed. In April 2008, NPR reported that the Justice Department was investigating whether Hagen was fired after a rumor reached former Justice Department official Monica Goodling that she was a lesbian.

When the DoJ Inspector General report on Goodling was released in July 2008, it concluded that Goodling was motivated by Hagen’s perceived sexual orientation and “that Goodling’s actions violated Department policy and federal law, and constituted misconduct.”

Last night, however, NPR reported the good news that Obama Justice Department has re-hired Hagen for old position:

1. I'm sorry but this isn't going to fit in with the Obama bashing theme of the day.

11. It depends, Yes I am glad that she got her job back , but as the article says
Federal Laws were broken. Is Obama just going to move forward and forget about that? Goodling should be tried in a Court of Law with a Jury of her peers. If she is not charged then I guess our Laws don't have much meaning..

12. I have a feeling Holder will take care of this after an investigation.
Also, she has the right to press charges, sue in civil court, etc. I'm looking foward to a lot of bleach and sunshine at Justice.

The Justice Department needs to be separate from the President.

20. I have no idea what law that would be
gays aren't covered under federal non discrimination statutes. Her firing is probably the only one that didn't break the law.

I hope Goodling (caging lists), Schlozman (civil rights law breaking), and
Gonzales all wind up in jail.

8. I still remember Monica's testimony
As the third highest lawyer in the land she couldn't say
if something she did was legal and admitting to helping
run a voter caging program .... her handlers shut her down
right after that bit.

Once again
the NSA did the spying and the DoJ was the muscle w/
the U.S. Attorneys as the hit men in Rove's operation.

I must have missed that. Where and when was that testimony given? Please spare me what may be a tedious Google-search.

14. Goodling needs to be charged, indicted and tried. She should be
disbarred and that diploma factory where she got her law "education" should be shut down.

17. Good! I'm thinking that EVERY US Atty fired by her should be
rehired. Being fired by her is a really good endorsement.

Those NOT fired by her however. . .They're the ones who have to be scrutinized..
