Since Friday, Chavez has been accused of stealing an ENSCO oil rig, of mounting an anti-semitic attack on a synagogue in Caracas and today, of slamming Obama's energy policy.

Well, Venezuela took over operations on that oil rig while they renegotiate a contract with ENSCO,

Thing is, when I first started doing internet research I might get a few hundred links (loong time ago) now, I get millions and it's hard to quickly assess the veracity and angle of each source. Eventually, he will bubble up and I will take the time to parse out the most neutral sources and then I will decide for myself where I stand on Pres. Chavez. I have incredible Google Foo but I also know a big project when I see one and I have to parse so as to have a life.

Western (mainstream) media always distort what Chavez is doing. When he wanted to reform the Constitution by a democratic referendum, to abolish term limits on the presidency (just like Nicholas Sarkozy and Kevin Rudd can run indefinitely for re-election), Western media said Chavez "wants to reform the Constitution so he can rule for life". You can immediately see why this reporting is not fair.

When it comes to Chavez, I trust sources like MediaMatters and FAIR.
