Remembrance Day for Longhorn.

The family of Longhorn (Kendra) will be holding a remembrance day for her next Saturday, 7th
February, at her home in Dripping Springs, Texas.

For anyone who would like to be part of that remembrance, you can contact two of her daughters,

They will be happy to assist you with making arrangements, or just to talk to you.

Laura sent through this message today: "DU meant so much to my mom. She just loved you guys! Thank you for all your concern and comforting words. You've been so helpful - probably more than you know."

I always enjoyed reading what she had to say. Yesterday, I read the thread (in the health forum, IIRC) where she disclosed she was getting treated for cancer, and you know, she had TOO MUCH LIFE to be taken from us. :cry: Peace and condolences to her family. :grouphug:

I spoke to her on the phone when she was up in Chicago for treatment last month. I knew her from the Moderator Forum, but actually speaking to her was a great experience. She was truly a terrific person.

It is so sad to see another long-time DUer pass. She was such an active part of this board, especially the Classic Films Group (and also the Bicycling Group at one time, if my memory serves me correctly.)

31. Longhorn brought a lot of joy and enthusiasm to the Bicycling Group

One of her posts:

"Today I become a bicycle commuter!

Well, a partial commute, to begin with. It's only ten miles from my house to school but that's down a busy four-lane highway with few shoulders. However, there's a road off the back parking lot that has a barrier for cars but that I bike can get around. From there, I can take a somewhat meandering route through a very hilly neighorhood, then on a rural two-lane road that eventually makes it back to the highway -- seven miles total.

I've been taking some time mostly away from DU since the mod switch and I'm really sorry to hear of her passing. She was a great lady and will be sorely missed. She always had an encouraging word.

36. Oh my gosh, I am so sorry.

I have been out-of-pocket and offline for a month due to major surgery. I didn't know that Longhorn had passed away. I remember she had responded to some of my posts.

Comforting thoughts and prayers to her loved ones and those who knew her well.
