39. One of my husband's girlfriend's is from Wasilla |
|
She filled us in on the local gossip, I tell ya! She didn't like it much when I went after the "Baby ain't her's" direction when the whole mess started, but I told her, the media isn't doing their job, I'm leading them to the blood in the water so they'll investigate the whole of Sarah Palin. It worked.
Wasilla seems like a bit of a Peyton's Place meets Northern Exposure by her telling. Of course, she seems to like Big Fish stories, so I dunno.

80. correct, Seoul. surprised that Mexico City is not as dense. |
|
Tokyo is an ocean of a city, that was fun. but checking out the stats i want to see, but already anticipate with foreboding, seeing South Asia's big cities. Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Dhaka... the density is sick. and in Dhaka (roughly around 7 mil) it's at least double the density of here. like walking on top of people to cross the street. mind blowing. imagining Mumbai or Delhi, not as dense as Dhaka, but significantly more dense than Seoul, and a larger population -- throw in heat, dust, and lower standard of living than here, i cannot imagine survival. it sounds like literally a human hell, a rhododendron bush uncontrolled, death by overcrowding.

Overpopulation is hardly an issue to most in the US, but in some countries I would hope it's a significant concern. At some point there come an end to viability as a city...you can only jam so many people in and expect it to function as a place of civilization.

official figures are hard to come by, since the City & County of Honolulu covers the entire island of O'ahu (and certain outlying islands, making it the largest city on Earth geographically!), thus there is no "City of Honolulu" proper, only a CDP (Census Designated Place).

ETA: Of course, Whittier's not in the middle of nowhere. It's right on the border of Orange County (3 million) in Los Angeles County (10 million). So we ain't lonely.

98. There's a big difference between LA and LA county. Do you really live in LA |

or one of the 1000 surrounding communities?
