IBM invites laid-off U.S. employees to work in India
http://rawstory.com/news/2008/IBM_invites_laidoff_U.S._employees_to_0203.html

Redefining the possibilities of the word "offshore," IBM has invited its recently laid-off U.S. workers to find work with the storied company in developing countries like India – where salaries are a fraction of what Americans are used to.

While the invitation is likely more than most U.S. companies have offered the 2.6 million Americans laid off in 2008, the company's standing offer is probably cold comfort to most newly minted ex-IBM employees.

An internal document circulating the company says that a program called "Project Match" will "help you locate potential job opportunities in growth markets where your skills are in demand," according to InformationWeek.

"Should you accept a position in one of these countries, IBM offers financial assistance to offset moving costs, provides immigration support, such as visa assistance, and other support to help ease the transition of an international move," the document says.

(end snip)

I have no words for this.

2. P&G did that when I was working for them
hundreds of well-paid accounting jobs sent to Costa Rica at @ 1/10th of the cost. All affected workers were allowed to apply for jobs there - no guarantee or help with moving, selling houses or anything else.

3. Fuck em. If IBM starts to fail then let them. Don't listen to their

cries for help. Fuck em.

Don't give them any tax breaks. Fuck em.

Let them move their sorry ass to India, after the USA nationalizes all their stateside holdings, then shut the door on all of their imports to the US.

If they want to hurt the economy further then hurt them right back.

I'm fucking sick of reading this shit every day.

5. They moved their Corporate headquarters...
to China in 2006. They haven't been an "American" corporation in a long time, with over 300 offices in 170 countries.

8. Then shut them off. Bye, bye. Bush reportedly put a 300% tarif on

Roquefort from France. put a 300% tariff on anything coming in from IBM that is not made in the USA.

Yes, I know "That's protectionism and unglobal", but I really don't care.

Soon there will be nothing left of this country except for burger flipper/manufacturing jobs.

The gall of it. Steal the jobs. And then do this.

I have never been for boycotts, but it's now time.

DO NOT CALL IBM A U.S. COMPANY. IT ISN'T.

It's time for digging in to figure out what to do. Right now I think they should be kicked out of the U.S. They don't need to milk our country anymore than they have.

THIS IS A GIGANTIC MESSAGE TO THE CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY - WE'VE BEEN HAD.
THIS IS CLEAR PROOF THAT THE INTENT IS TO MAKE US A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY.

IBM. Incorporated OUTSIDE the U.S.
Halliburton. Incorporated OUTSIDE the U.S.

Please add to this.

This exempts them for lawsuits if they don't abide by working conditions, etc.

Enough.

We don't need them.

Shame. Shame. ON IBM.
