"We can't get at the truth...."
A co-worker and I were discussing various topics over lunch the other day and he proferred that the most frustrating problem that we have nowadays is that everything is politicized to the point that we've reached a state of inertia in moving the country foward. He then grew reflective and said six words that goes right to the heart of the matter:

"We can't get at the truth."

I wholeheartedly agree with him on both counts, and until we separate both of these toxic elements we will have a very difficult time for the foreseeable future.

1. If we could bust up the lame$tream corprat-pwned media, that would help matters but...
...no one "up there" seems interested in that. They're all part of the problem.

2. Right ... which is why we need to reinstate Fairness Doctrine ....
and why we need everyone to see US Senate/USHR coverage --

and State legislatures ...

Wild right wing propaganda over decades, as well -- largely unresponded to by Dems.

3. I'd be happy with logic..
I wouldn't mind being told fairy tales, if they were at least believable. It just doesn't stop. I was hoping for a 'whistle-blower parade' by now.

5. I don`t look for truth in a cesspool.
I`m not sure truth matters any more. Image matters, profit matters, branding matters. Truth? Not so much.

6. Actually, we can...
Problem is not 'getting suicided' on the way to the really big truths.

7. I don't know where to post this
and it may be removed, but this is outrageous and astonishing news about
what our military is up to.

8. First off, post it in GD as an Original Post and start a thread on it.
Second, find the specific link for the article, and post THAT, not just the nonspecific www.counterpunch.org so that when the lead article cchanges, people can still link to this story.

Good catch.

11. I read the article.....
...first off, it's the duty of every General to present alternatives to the CINC when it comes to a major operation such as withdrawing from Iraq. Second, enlisting advice from field commanders to present the case is SOP in the service. Finally, the counterpunch article is so loaded with explosive words such as "rebel" that it renders the article ridiculous and in the end the commanders will follow the orders of President Obama.

Just like the OP, we can't get at the truth.
