I need help
I wrote an article titled There is no pork barrel spending in the Stimulus package.

I am getting the majority of comments from right wing Republicans, most notably someone named Luann who also commented on my article about Karl Rove that when he broke into a Democratic candidates' office to steal the letterhead and then sent fake letters out trying to get his candidate elected, wrote that that was just a college prank and that he is no worse than any other politician.

So I am hoping that some of you will show some support by going to my article and making some comments about it from the Democratic point of view.

Please feel free to comment on any of my other articles. I'm starting to think only Republicans read my articles. I've been called everything from a "this broad" to things I can't even bring myself to repeat here, so please help.

Thanks,
Karen Harper

1. Please?
Sorry to whine but I'm really getting disheartened by the lack of any positive response.

3. Thanks
To the people who have commented, I really appreciate it.

I have one person who comments on a lot of my articles in a really annoying way and she posts comments longer than the original article and I'm really getting tired of it.

So a great big THANKS!

4. sorry to rain on your parade so to speak
But though technically it may not be pork barrel spending, it sure looks like it. Im not sure how all those millions are meant to stimulate the economy, i would much prefer a clean bill listing exactly what goes where and we can deal with the other stuff seperately.

7. it's not the same
It's not pork barrel spending. I too prefer a clean bill that is aimed at just Stimulus but then of course one could argue that what you think is not a stimulus is and vice versa. For example, one of the things the GOP objects to is the building of offices for Homeland Security department. That will put people to work.

The point is that pork barrel spending is designed to please a certain politicians' constituents. These items, while I don't necessarily agree they belong in the Stimulus bill, are not pork barrel spending.

Tax cuts don't work. WE all figured this out with Bush's tax cuts and tax rebates. The economy just got worse.

I for one actually think we need more infrastructure spending than the bill calls for. I would like to see it as all infrastructure building and NO tax cuts. But apparently I'm the only person that thinks that.

9. apparently so, i sure as hell would rather see us the little people spending the money
rather than the governement, at least i know where i can buy a toilet seat that dosent cost $10,000, I am very reticent to let the government no matter who is in power spend my money without having a real close look.

8. I hope you're right
Sometimes it seems like they are in the majority even though they obviously aren't. I wonder if now that we have a Democrat in the White House and a majority in the house, if we are becoming more complacent. I got a lot more comments on articles from Democrats when Bush was in office than I do now.

10. I have your page bookmarked.
I live just up the road in Gadsden. It is comforting that there is at least one other progressive in this state. I commented on your latest article yesterday.

12. The Moody's Analysis
Karen,

The analysis I mentioned is at:

I tried to post the link with the comments, but apparently posting links in comments is not permitted.
