Markopolos: SEC Was "Captive Regulator"

By Zachary Roth - February 4, 2009, 10:39AM
Markopolos identifies another problem with the SEC:

"They were a captive regulator. Mr. Madoff was too big," he just told Congress. "They looked at Madoff and said: 'he's a big firm, .'we dont attack big firms"

TOO BIG, TOO POWERFUL-THERE LIES THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. TIME FOR REGULATION TO STEP IN AND NOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN AGAIN. THERE WILL BE NO FAITH IN THE SYSTEM, UNTIL THOSE WHO ALLOWED IT TO GET THIS MESSED UP AND GROSSLY PROFITED FROM IT ARE REMOVED FROM THE PICTURE! imho
