What's the diff between Obama preaching fear over the economy & * preaching fear over terrorism?
Is one more serious than the other? Bush wanted to take away rights, torture people, spy on everybody and invade Iraq. Obama wants the government to own a big part of some banks and businesses. That is socialism. We need regulation, business incentives and aid for the needy - not government ownership.

Both have used fear mongering.

Somebody straighten me out please.

1. There are actually a lot of parallels. The biggest being the "NO TIME TO THINK! WE MUST ACT!"

Manner in which the TARP and the current stimulus is being pushed.

3. Well let's ask, who will get hurt?
What is the difference of scaring the people into "War" versus scaring the people into providing jobs and economic security. Sometimes it takes putting some fear into people to get them to act. The question is though, what sort of action does your fear mongering require? I like Obama's way more than Republican's.

7. Pretty sure the other side would say something similiar...
Maybe something like ....

The GWOT was absolutely needed to keep Americans safe in their home and keep America dominant as a force for good in the world and the stimulus plan is wealth redistribution which steals from people who earned their money and gives it to a myriad of nanny state projects and unneccessary social programs that serve the purpose of keeping people weak and dependant on the government, thus creating an entire generation of state wards.

Just because you like what you hear doesn't mean it isn't the same thing.

19. But are Americans safe in their homes?
How many people get cancer every single day, Diabetes, or MS, or a multitude of various health problems? Does money play an important part in that? How does the GWOT attack cancer? Let's compare the American fatality rate during the last eight years from cancer or terror. Which caused the greater degree of insecurity? Your argument is actually quite stale and without anything to base it on.

22. I do agree that health care is a different matter.
More "socialism" or a one payer system is the best answer to our medical insurance problems.

I know the USPS is suffering because of the internet, but they were privatized and are almost a monopoly for certain mail. They could be a model.

24. This is the equivalent of...
me saying "Some people believe that left-handed people are at a marked disadvantage in today's society" (Right or wrong some people may believe it)

Your response in turn is something along the lines of "I like pie made out of pancakes and bricks. Your argument is obviously flawed"

4. I'm another one who wishes they would slow down.
I know they are eagerly trying to get some cash out there to get the wheels turns again, but as we've seen with the first round, throwing cash at it doesn't help. It's fine if they want to approve the spending now while the iron is hot, but not release the cash until worthy projects are identified.

5. Obama speaks English coherently?
As for "the gubmint" owning some banks and businesses, YES! Critical industries and banks need to be nationalized. Regulation isn't enough. Greedy scumbags are very adept at avoiding them.

15. I don't think he is preaching fear. I see him defining the issues, displaying
solutions, welcoming ideas, etc. I also don't see Obama trying to take away any of my constitutional rights. In terms of limiting Executive pay, no company is forced to take the bail outs. Some may go for bankruptcy or merging with another company. Happens ever day in business if they want to go that route.

18. No one is preaching fear.
What Obama is pushing has been known to be needed for quite a while now. Most economists have been talking about the need for this for some time. You seem to be forgetting the bigger picture here.

23. I don't see him using fear
look at the news reports, numbers of people losing their jobs. The problem is esculating, don't trust the news, step outside your door...I see Obama as telling us the truth.

Now I don't know if this will work, getting projects out there for people to build strangely sounds like JOBS. Later come back with more projects, MORE JOBS. Shall we wait for the situation to become worse?

in our economy. You know that right? Roads, public schools, parks, property taxes, taxes period. This isn't really that different from what we already have, it's just a different take on it.

28. Oh yeah?
President Barack Obama says the recession will turn into a "catastrophe" if the economic stimulus is not passed quickly.

In the mean time:
Former Vice President Dick Cheney warned that there is a “high probability” that terrorists will attempt a catastrophic nuclear or biological attack in coming years, and said he fears the Obama administration’s policies will make it more likely the attempt will succeed.

29. um...back in the fall it was the BANKS begging Washington for a lifeline
or else everything would collapse, they screamed...nevermind the fact that the banks' trouble was ENTIRELY of the own doing, and these people who tout social-financial darwinism, unregulated free markets and 'survival of the fittest' during the good times were the same crying "but we're TOO BIG TO FAIL!" when the tide turned
