If networking for jobs through DU got one person work, it would be a worthwhile. Anyone else agree?

2. Great Idea I need a job in Chicago
Edited on Wed Feb-04-09 03:18 PM by 4 t 4
Help!!

On Edit: Is there anyone out there in any state that knows of one single job opening-just wondering because my thinking is that everyone that has a job knows at least 1 person that needs a job. Why would anyone hiring at this point even need to place a help wanted ad ?

4. There is a Career Help and Advice group
in the "Lifestyles/Peer Support and Self-Help" section: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=362

I'm very surprised it isn't getting much more attention.

- The purpose of the DU Career Help and Advice Group is to provide a place for users to express ideas and advice related to various careers and career seeking methods. Additionally, helpful and interesting information related to jobs and the job markets could be exchanged to inform and be discussed amongst group participants.

Most of the DU groups get very little participation as is. I think trying to carve out a narrow niche for
each specific topic just adds to that.

I need a job too.

Stock watch thread (several weeks ago) I recommend the administrators revisit this issue. We were willing to provide a link on the Stock Watch thread.

Times are tough and I hear about jobs all the time and I am happy to post things here first. This is a community of it's own and I would always rather have a DU'er in the next cubicle.

Keep recommending this thread.

Let me say up front that, I do not find jobs for people........I find people for jobs. But I specialize on the candidate recruitment side of things--gave up all my client companies years ago. So all of my business is "split" business with other recruiters. They keep me very busy with specific searches. I have my informal network, and my formal network, where we are all on the same software and get updates to requirements daily.

I specialize in these industries: medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, engineering (mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, chemical, etc.), manufacturing, and lately, getting much more into green technologies and renewable energy. I still do a little I.T.

I need minimum of Bachelors degrees and a few years practical experience. I can't do much with people who will not relocate, however, our client companies pay those expenses.

I have certainly been known to talk politics with candidates, and in the past several years, have learned a lot in talking to people from certain countries that have relocated here, from say, Iraq.

I am self-employed, and been doing this for 20 years. I'm pretty damn good at it when there's not some moron in charge of the country.

Feel free to email me privately--I would LOVE to place some DU'ers!
