1. Don't much like it myself - paying for something by taxing something you tell people not to do
It should be fully funded in a more intelligent way.

3. I dont like it either
It seems like just more piling on onto a group of people that are an easy target by the fascists.

16. Because its bad policy to pay for childrens health through a sin tax
Suppose the tax works like those who proposed it hope, and millions of tobacco users say "F this its too expensive, I quit"......then what happens to the funding for the childrens health care?

18. i'm for anyway we can funnel federal money to children's health care...
if all the smokers quit that would be great and we would find some other way to fund it.

25. That's where I'm at .
The people who like this tax are the ones who don't smake so it's easy for them to support it. But put a tax on them like on their fast food or a tax on their road use and all hell whould break loose.

To target people who for the most part would like to be free of an addiction is just pushing them to the edge and I hope many will quit because of it and the tabacco tax is not just a tax for SCHIP it funds a lot of things yet people find no issue bashing the smoker and blaming them for everything. A smoker is restricted with many laws and fines as it is and anyone who supports this tax now should just shut the hell up or pay for it themselves.

You tax people who are blamed for the rise in healthcare costs for childrens healthcare and they do it because they know damn well how difficult it is to quit.

I am for childrens healthcare but it is not my fault the parents can't afford it anymore than it is their fault I smoke. I should have never began smoking and they should have planned ahead to see if they could afford raising a child or two or eight.

I don't have children because I could not afford it . Thing is smoking or having children is a personal choice , however I can quit smoking but you can't quit raising a child.

19. It does, doesn't it?
I tried calling the White House, but the comment line was closed for the day. So I went to whitehouse.gov, and emailed him, thanking him for making me proud of him and of my country. I've never in my life done anything like that.

It felt great.

13. Obama is working the rope line - shaking hands with everyone
just like during the election.

He never misses and opportunity to make a connection.

14. Change
It's been painfully slower than we hope, especially with regard to the stimulus package, but it's happening.
