2. Yes I can. There was a lot of hoopla when one of the air force bases closed down in the 90s.

But at least the area recovered economically. (I think it was Danvers Air force base, but I could just be misremembering it).

3. I grew up in the Hampton Roads (Tidewater) area of Va.
and it wouldn't really exist except for the ship building
and the Naval Base
and Langley Air Force Base
and NAS Oceania
and Ft. Monroe
and Ft. Eustis
and Camp Peary
and the Coast Guard base in Yorktown

you get the idea.

BUT THEY DON'T WANT THAT MEAN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MESSING AROUND IN THEIR BIDNESS :grr:
