GOP committeewoman in FL sends racist email...about inauguration, blacks, and Katrina.
Edited on Thu Feb-05-09 12:58 PM by madfloridian
I never cease to be amazed and shocked and stunned at the ugliness that comes from Republicans in my state. It's like they have had no opposition for so long that they think they can say anything at all.

From a St. Pete Times blog:

Racial e-mail sent by Hillsborough GOP leader

In the Hillsborough County GOP -- where former Chairman David Storck made headlines for forwarding racially-charged e-mails -- veteran state committeewoman Carol Carter has stirred controversy with her own e-mails from a few days ago. Judge for yourself.

From: Carol Carter

Subject: FW: Amazing!

I'm confused

How can 2,000,000 blacks get into Washington, DC in 1 day in sub zero temps when 200,000 couldn't get out of New Orleans in 85 degree temps with four days notice?

Carol Carter

Also included at the blog is her apology, if you want to call it that.

I have been asked to send this apology for my earlier email. I am sorry that it was received in a negative manner. I do hope that we are going to be allowed to keep our sense of humor. As you can now see, it went to very few people. I did add Todd Marks in this apology, as he is in the mix now. I am also sorry to learn that some of these persons are not real team players. There really was no reason for this to go beyond those that I emailed (8 people). This was not an email blast as I do not have that capability.

Carol

She blames the people to whom she sent the email. :wow:

1. Hillsborough County, despite being home to Tampa, is probably the most racist Co. in the state
next to Polk Co. of course...

18. The classic "I'm sorry if you were offended" shit! Clearly, anything above
a room temperature IQ disqualifies you from any kind of position in the Repiglican machine!

ZOMG!!! NOBODY COULD HAVE IMAGINED THAT AN E-MAIL COULD POSSIBLY BE FORWARDED!!!!

3. Apparently she was a math or science major
Washington, DC in 1 day in sub zero temps

Sub-freezing, not sub-zero. Does she use Celsius? I doubt she's Canadian, as there are very few racist Nazi pigs north of the border. :grr:

200,000 couldn't get out of New Orleans

Assuming she's talking only about "blacks", there were over 300,000 of them in New Orleans before the Federal Flood. No one is really sure how many (of all races) were left stranded; estimates are that about 90,000 (many of them in heavily white Uptown, which didn't flood) stayed and rode it out.

:dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce:

4. here's how ...
the national guard didn't want the 2,000,000 blacks to stay in DC (and besides, it wasn't 2,000,000 blacks, if you believe Faux sources, it was approximately 43 ...), and the national guard didn't want the 200,000 to LEAVE New Orleans ... so the guns were pointed inward, at New Orleans ... just ask those who were turned back on the bridges ...

12. I am not amazed, just disgusted.
Racism is born of fear and ignorance. People fear change, especially a racial majority that has historically believed that they were inherently superior since the settlement of the country, and who has oppressed minorities to enforce their dominance. Racism is a useful tool that politicians can use to enforce the status quo and remain in power. They don't see anything wrong with sending out jokes which belittle other racial groups because they believe that the information they are sending out is true and the targeted group should just accept it as such.

10. In case you forgot the email from the Storck fellow mentioned in the OP
I tried to tell you guys that things were different here in Florida. :eyes:

Here's the link.

http://www.tampabay.com/news/politics/elections/article883431.ece

"TAMPA — Just days before Americans vote in an election with the first black presidential nominee, the head of the Hillsborough County Republican Party sent an e-mail warning members of "the threat" of "carloads of black Obama supporters coming from the inner city to cast their votes."

The e-mail, sent Wednesday, prompted charges of racism from local GOP members and a call for David Storck, chairman of the Hillsborough Republican Party, to resign. By Thursday afternoon, it brought condemnation from state party leaders and John McCain's campaign.

The e-mail, written in all capital letters by volunteer Ron Whitley, 72, was forwarded by Storck to about 400 party members.

It begins with the words "The Threat," and, referring to an early voting site in Temple Terrace, reads in part: "I see carloads of black Obama supporters coming from the inner city to cast their votes for Obama. This is their chance to get a black president and they seem to care little that he is at minimum, socialist, and probably Marxist in his core beliefs. After all, he is black — no experience or accomplishments — but he is black."

11. We win!!! "Hillsborough GOP Committeewoman Quits Over E-Mail"
http://www2.tbo.com/content/2009/feb/05/hillsborough-gop-committeewoman-quits-over-e-mail/news-breaking/

TAMPA - Hillsborough Republican state committeewoman Carol R. Carter says she is resigning her post amid controversy over a racially tinged e-mail that she sent to eight friends.

"I have tendered my resignation," Carter said this morning, hours after a published report detailed an e-mail sent by Carter Jan. 30.

The e-mail questions how 2 million "blacks" could make it to the inauguration of Barack Obama but 200,000 couldn't make it out of New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina.

23. Good for these statements to be made public so you see people for what they are
Amazing how people attribute their prejudice to just having a sense of humor.

As one of the almost two million standing on the mall for the inauguration - there were people of all backgrounds and races there - she hasn't realized yet that Obama's supporters comes from African Americans, White Americans and Hispanic Americans etc. etc. etc.!

Most of them seem permanently stuck at the emotional age of a snarky little middle school bully who thinks they have the world figured out already.

Uh, Carol, are you out of your fucking skull? If you are too stupid to see how offensive your joke is, then at least don't be a cyber-MORAN and put anything in an email that might be damning.
