Poll question: The Army reports 24 suicides in January, 2009.
According to the AP (via google), this news is "alarming."

While I agree that an increase in suicide is alarming, I really don't feel it was unexpected (considering the rise in suicides overall in the services since Dumbass' selection).

Am I alone? Was this increase unexpected?

(BTW, unhappycamper has a related thread in the Veterans forum http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=259&topic_id=23792&mesg_id=23792 )

1. Not only was it expected..
Soldiers have been returning from war with PTSD (Shell-Shock, Battle-Fatigue, Vietnam Syndrome)etc., since WWI. They know very well what happens to human beings who are subjected to the inhuman environment of war. Obviously, it is of no concern.
